A business owner explains his 30-year success without advertising: keep your word, answer the phone, show up for clients and employees, work hard. He calls it reciprocal investment. What you pour in comes back.
What are the, like, the top traits that you have that you think has made you, like, successful in business or just in life in general over the past, like, however long years?
Well, I had a mentor tell me years ago that your word should be as good as your handshake. And, you know, some, some old values are as good today as they were yesterday.
Yeah.
Um, always answer your phone. Always. And I always answer my phone. I, um, and just being disciplined, like, show up for your clients. Right? And your employees. Yeah, I think just being there, present, and, you know, build those goals up, but pour into your baby and it will look after your business and it will look after you. You're going to get what you pour into it. Be a man of your word, work hard. Your work ethic and your character will befall you, right? It'll go ahead of you. I've never— I've honestly never advertised. I haven't advertised in 30 years. Just good work.
Word of mouth and just quality of work. And yeah, that carries itself.
