What the Syrup? Eviction Nightmare that Cost me $7,500

This is a YouTube video titled "What the Syrup? Eviction Nightmare that Cost me $7,500" created in late 2024. The content features a single narrator recounting a personal experience with a problematic tenant who caused significant property damage and how Zillow's tenant screening failed to reveal the tenant's eviction and criminal history. The narrator documents the cleanup process and warns viewers about relying on Zillow for tenant background checks. The video includes dialogue with another person named Sam, but no speaker named Mundo Sanchez is present.
All right, time to check out how Zillow screwed me. Let's dive right in. All right, so we're here checking out this property. We just had tenant get evicted. And, yeah, this looks like a little bit of a mess. So I'm looking through. You see my text message? She texted me the other day. She said all I really have is the clothes I can just take to the dumpster. And she's gonna get the rest of the belongings out of the house. Don't know if she got the rest of the belongings out. Looks like she missed a few things. So we got. Not sure what that is. Sausage. That's cool. I don't know what in the world's going on here. Oh, that's cool. Got some nice chicken wings here. Some yummy stuff. Love the damage. I don't know what in the world happened to this one. Interesting. Oh, cool. You remember helping me out with this one, right? Oh, wait, hold on. We got sugar here, so that's helpful. That'll help recover some damages. Excited for this? Oh, yeah, look at that. That's great. I love that. Good thing she got all her belongings out.
Give me that. Here you go.
How are you doing? Oh, we have one place. Clean the closet. There we go. It's empty.
It's cool.
This looks good. I like this. This is locked. About to see me in action using tools.
That's great. That should be the last one now.
Oh, thank goodness. I was hoping there wasn't a dead body in here. Oh, my gosh. Is that piss?
I think it's caramel syrup.
Oh, gosh. You think so?
I'm gonna taste it.
I think I'll take a rain check on that one. Oh, my God. Dude, I'm legitimately scared to look at here. Oh, okay. So this was pretty intentional. That's nice. Very cool.
Wow.
Oh, wow, that looks good. So, yeah, this is what happens when you rely on Zillow applications. Because the background check and the credit check came back clean. Obviously it's not clean. I ran my own background checks and found that the tenant had a history of evictions and criminal record. And this is just another day at the office for her. Oh, boy. You're gonna regret coming to help me today. At least this is syrup, I think.
Good times, clearly, like the magnite gold.
Yeah.
And chicken wings.
So minus the. No.
Yeah, sit on the chair. Shit on the wall, I guess.
Oh.
Nice coffee maker. More syrup everywhere.
That's cool.
I don't know, man. Maybe syrup was just a drunken stupor. Hey, at least she's organized. Have her calendar cleaned out.
Oh, gosh. Well, this will be fun to clean up.
Promise not to lose it. Okay. Oh, I kept on. Hot dog. Yeah, come on, get it in there. Push. Now. Move. Yeah, let it.
All right, so we're back at it today. Yesterday we cleared out this place with all this disgusting mattress stains with syrup, and cleared all the tables and the sofa and all the things that the tenant left behind. And today we're here to deal with this mess. We're going to clean up as much as we possibly can because we want to not have our cleaning people come in here and have their eyes pop out of their head and then have another four or five hundred dollar bill on top of what, the normal cleaning fee just because this is such a disgusting mess. So let's talk about how we got here again. Zillow really screwed me. They screwed me pretty bad because I relied heavily on them for the application process of this applicant. And I don't allow people with eviction records to be a tenant with me. I don't allow bankruptcies, I don't allow criminal records. So those are the things that I look for. And I always check the credit report. I like to see that they have a good credit history. A lot of times, tenants, they don't. So as long as they don't have a long history of evictions or bankruptcies, you know, financially speaking, if they can prove that they have enough income to support themselves and pay the rent, I'll usually give them a chance. But when we talk about what happened with Zillow, this tenant who absolutely trashed this rental that I'm in right now, add to it, they had filled out an application, and we ran the background check. They did the credit report, they checked for the criminal record, they checked for evictions, and it came up clean. There was nothing on it. And I've used Zillow for pretty much all of my properties, and I've had plenty of reports come back where the tenant had issues. They had bankruptcies, evictions and stuff like that. So I never even thought twice about questioning the validity of the report. Right. And so this time when I started having problems, you know, I started looking back at the application, trying to evaluate, hey, what did I do wrong? Like, this obviously was a bad apple that I picked as a tenant to move into the property. And so I looked back at the report and it was completely clean. There was nothing on it fixed. Let's take a look at this fridge. Does that fridge look completely clean to you? No. So there is clearly some things going on that I wasn't aware of. So I actually ran my own background check from two different sources, and I found that this tenant, this was just another day at the office for this tenant. It had a long history of evictions, had a criminal record and all of these issues and delinquencies on bills and collections and all this stuff. And if I would have saw that on the background report, the tenant would have never made it in the door. And for that, I am never trusting Zillow ever again. And that's how they screwed me out of $7,500. So today I'm here to clean up the mess and to deal with it again. I'm probably going to be here all week. I mean, it is absolutely disgusting. I mean, there was urine left in the toilet. I mean, you name it, it's in here. So hope you learn from my mistake. And never, never, never, never rely on Zillow for your applications with tenants.
Thanks for watching subs. Sam.
