Varying your pitch while speaking signals confidence and engagement, while a flat, monotone voice suggests uncertainty. Cultural or familial habits can lock you into a boring delivery, but deliberately shifting your pitch up and down conveys that your message has value and energy.

Today's voice tip of the day is about pitch range when you speak. When we are the most confident and self-assured and devoted to what we're about to say, in fun situations or in serious ones, we have dynamic pitch range. We go high and we go low with our voices with ease. But when we aren't confident, when we're not sure if what we're about to say is going to land well or not, and we're not quite sure what we're going to say, I think you can hear the difference in my voice. I'm not using so many pitches. I am subconsciously playing it safe with my voice. Now, sometimes we just get in a habit or we're taught by our culture or our family to speak in that boring, flat, pitchless way. If you want to send a signal to the world that what you have to say has value and should be heard and has energy behind it, use a variety of pitches with your voice.
