So today I have a quick word for you on if you are in a role right now and you want to leave it and you're just not sure how to go about that, or How to see your own value, you're not sure about your own value. Maybe you've had a manager who's gaslit you or made you feel like you haven't really been doing much, even though your results are good. This is a question you can ask. So the concept called packing up your bag for you to get ready to leave. So the way that you pack up your bag is you ask yourself a simple question, and then the answer to this question is everything that goes into your bag. So the question is, what would've happened if you were not there? So think about all the projects you've done, all the work that you've done at your current role and your past roles, and ask yourself, what would've happened if you were not there? And then the answers are going to start coming to you. You're going to be like, well, we never would've had that relationship with this person. We never would've thought about this. This probably wouldn't have been communicated. This organizational system wouldn't have been put into place. This wouldn't have, you know, so all these things that you did or that you contributed to, that you thought of, that you facilitated, everything that happened because of your presence. Okay? And from there, you're going to start packing your suitcase. Okay? So from there, once your suitcase is packed, you're going to be so much more equipped. to go and check out other things, right? You're going to be like, oh, well, where could I go with this suitcase of these amazing things that I will need? Where do I want to go? So that's the main question that I want you to ask yourself this week. What would have happened if I was not there? What would happen if you were not there, right? So the thing a lot of people do is they get a lot into, we did this, we did this together as a team, we did this, and they don't want to take the credit for it themselves, right? And that's fair. You did have a team and And it's implied that you're going to have a team and you're going to work with people, right? But even if it was you on the team who helped somebody get through a difficult situation they were dealing with, like a question or figure something out, you helped them troubleshoot something, you helped them problem solve something. Even if that was the case, if you ask that question, what would've happened if you were not there? Then the answer there would be, well, that person probably wouldn't have solved that problem. Even if you helped access somebody else's genius, Just the fact that you were there was a contribution, which means that gets to go into your bag, right? Good with people, helping problem solve. You asked some good questions. You even just provided comfort to somebody who was having a hard time, motivated another team member. Like, there's so many things that you did just by being there that you didn't know you did, right? The only way that you didn't add value was if you literally just sat there and did nothing, said nothing, contributed, like, literally did nothing, right? And if that's the case, then We have another thing to look at, but that's not the case. And 100% of the time I've worked with people, they've always got contributions that they've made. They just can't access them. So the way that you're going to be able to access this is by asking yourself a really good question, which is what would have happened to that if you were not there? And yes, maybe someone else would have been there. Maybe someone else would have done it something else, but they would have done it differently than you. Nobody did it the way you did it. Nobody thought of it the way you thought of it. And the results are going to prove way more. Then whatever anybody said to you. So I had one client too, which, which he said he created a plan to, to make something happen as far as like a building renovation or something to make it feasible within a budget. He created this plan and I said, so what happened? What were the results? And he's like, well, nothing much. Like my boss didn't say anything to me. And, and basically we just moved on. And I was like, well, did they do the renovation? Did they proceed with the project? And he's like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They proceeded with the project and was successful. And I was like, oh, well, there's your results. Like if you hadn't put together that plan, If you hadn't have done the research to budget it and make sure it was viable, then they wouldn't have been able to move forward with it, right? Somebody would've had to have done it. So, you did it in the specific way that you did it, which created a certain result. And the result speaks a lot louder than somebody saying, good job, right? And you're not always going to get good jobs at work. And I think we should acknowledge more often than managers and organizations do. I think that's, we should do that a lot more, but it doesn't happen all the time. And so what you wanna look at is the results that happen because of the work you did, not the verbal praise that you did or didn't get, right? That's good too. If you do get that, awesome. But it's not gonna be the thing that goes in your bag. Like it might, you might have, like I, if you did have a lot of praise or somebody did congratulate you, like, yeah, you can say I was recognized, like my manager recognized me for this, but if they didn't, then It doesn't matter because the result that you got from being there and contributing is what matters. So that's what I want you to think about today is what would've happened if you were not there and what contribution did you make? Because what happens when you ask yourself that question is you actually remove yourself from all the other crap because you could say, like, this is what people normally say. They're like, yeah, but nobody said anything about it. Yeah, but the idea was shot down. They didn't do it. Even if like, so I had another client and she said, Yeah, so I had this idea and I suggested it and my boss said, no, we're not going to do it that way. And then later on, after a meeting with the client, the consensus was that we should do it the way that I had said so in the first place, right? And she wasn't giving herself credit for that idea because her boss had said no to it. Her boss had shut it down, but it was a viable idea. It was valid. It was proven to be valid after when the clients— is that's what they wanted, right? But so many ways that we kind of trick ourselves out of seeing our own value because we didn't get that validation, right? And the validation is not what's important. What's important is the result. What's important was your thought process and the fact that you get to honor your thought process and you get to build trust with yourself based on the result, not based on what somebody said to you or how somebody acknowledged you or didn't. So question of the day, What would've happened if you were not there? The answer to that question gets packed up and you start packing yourself a very nice little suitcase so that you can leave and get into your next role. Want some more help with that?
