A Quick Word About What Happens After the Job Offer
15 Jul 2022 · 9 min
In this short solo episode of the Get a Six‑Figure Job You Love podcast, host Natalie Fisher addresses the often‑overlooked phase that follows receiving a job offer. She explains that many clients experience imposter syndrome—self‑doubt about deserving the new role—and reassures listeners that this reaction is normal and can be managed through the coaching provided in her six‑figure curriculum. Fisher emphasizes the need for a clear, strategic focus after the offer: defining what skills to master, identifying key problems to solve, and planning when to pursue raises or promotions. She advocates a growth mindset, likening continual development to a tree’s natural urge to grow, and challenges the notion of “coasting” after success. The episode also outlines her program’s 80/20 principle, encouraging listeners to spend the majority of their time on high‑value, enjoyable work (their zone of genius) while accepting a smaller portion of necessary but less enjoyable tasks. Throughout, Fisher invites listeners to join her community for ongoing support, celebrates the importance of gratitude, and provides a call‑to‑action with her website and LinkedIn contact information.

This is the Get a Six-Figure Job You Love podcast, and this is the Quick Word podcast. So this week I wanted to talk about what happens after you get the job offer. So, so many people have been telling me that they get offers from this podcast, they get offers from watching YouTube videos, or they get offered, they get an Offer in my program right away, or they they get an offer and now they're like okay now what? So a few things can happen. A lot of the times my clients will develop an imposter syndrome and they'll be like oh oh or like suddenly realize what's happened. They're like oh my god I got this incredible offer now how am I I need to perform I need to live up to this right? And that is something that I help you with inside the program as well inside my six figure curriculum and. It's kind of like normal because you're doing something that you haven't done before. If you're feeling like that, it's a good thing. It means you are going to be pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. You've already pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. You've achieved something that you thought was impossible, and now you're on to the next. So make sure you take time to celebrate it. But if you do have that imposter syndrome come up, if you do have that nervousness of, oh, now I have to perform, now I have to make this work, just know that that is normal and that I do help you with that inside the program and that It stems from the other stuff that we lay the foundation of inside the program, because you actually get to build from what you've already learned and just go back to it. So, the next thing that can happen is you can kind of start and be really excited, but not have like a clear focus, right? So, the next thing you want to have is a really clear focus of what's next, right? Yeah. Where do you want to head next? What do you want to get really, really good at in this role? What are the main problems that you want to solve by when? You want to be tracking stuff to know When you're going to be asking for your raise and promotion. Like, you want to have advancement in your focus and you want to have strategic advancement planned out or something that you are thinking ahead to, right? And many of the people that come to me and listen to my podcast and work with me are definitely interested in that advancement. They don't, they're not interested in coasting. Like most of the time people come to me because their current position, They've outgrown it. They don't have anywhere to grow. They're feeling bored. They're feeling unsatisfied. They're doing well and they're making money. Even sometimes it's money is not even the motivation for them. Depends where they're at, but they're feeling like something is missing. They wanna grow, they wanna evolve, they wanna do more, and they need some help to get to that point. And then they want to keep advancing, right? So a lot of the times I've had clients say to me, yeah, some, People want to tell me like, why do you want to keep doing stuff? Like I had one client, he was getting, he got several degrees. He had become the director of a company and he, he was still wanting to do more stuff. And his friends were like, why do you keep doing shit? He's like, why can't you just be happy with what you have? And to that, if you're one of those people, I say, because we're here for that reason. We're here to evolve. It's like, you wouldn't say to a tree, oh, the tree's grown enough. Why does it need to keep growing? The tree grows, right? That's what it does. That's part of nature. It's the cycle of nature, right? It grows until it cannot grow anymore, and it wants to reach its full height. What's wrong with that? We would never say, oh, you've grown enough, why would you keep growing, right? It's ridiculous. So whenever anyone says that to you, it's like, some people, they might be happy in a very comfortable zone where they don't want to do anything else, they don't want anything to change. But I believe that we're here to evolve and we're here to grow. And that, that's the point. So if someone says that to you, if they ask you like, why do you keep doing stuff? Why can't you just coast and just be happy with where you're at? You can say, because it's just not who I am. It's just not my personality. Like, that might be fine for you, but I want to do more. And why not? Right? And it doesn't mean you can't be grateful and happy for what you have right now. That's a huge part of it, being grateful and happy for what you have right now, but still wanting to advance. So those are the two things, right? The imposter syndrome can happen after you get into your new role. And in the program, I help you, I coach you on that, get you through. And once that you kind of have a new method for thinking around that, because every time you uplevel, every time you do something new that you haven't done before, you're going to have a little bit of potentially some self-doubt, some imposter syndrome every time, right? Every time I've done it and every time I keep doing it. And it's like new level, new devil. You end up with new problems at a higher level. Better quality problems, right? So it's normal. And then secondly, if you're not careful, you can not focus and not have your advancement planned out, not have your growth strategically planned. And I'm not saying plans don't change, but you wanna be looking forward, adding the most value that you can, making some decisions about how you want this new job to go, and you might need some guidance around that. So Those 2 things we also cover in the program. So it's not just for you if you are just somebody who wants to get a new job and that's it. Like, it doesn't end there, right? Your career keeps going, right? And you have an impact that you want to create. You have work you want to do, and getting the job is just the first step, right? And whether you've already gotten a job from listening to this podcast or whether you are in my program and you are going to continue to advance, whatever that is, I want to support you through that. And I want to help you decide on what your next goal might be, get you excited about that, and help you to achieve it and have fun along the way, because that's what it's all about, right? That's like, if it's not fun, then what the heck? I mean, not all of it is going to be fun, but we have a lot of fun inside my program. So if you want to be part of a community where you always have a place to come, whatever your goals are, it doesn't It doesn't just have to be getting your new job. Like I said, that's just the beginning. It's just the first step. And for most people, it's the hardest thing, right? Is making those mindset shifts, raising your level of thinking to the quality of thinking you need to be able to achieve that job. Then after that, what's next is it's going to be easier in some ways and harder in some ways, but either way, it's going to be the same process that I teach you to continue to advance and get through to your next goal. goal. All this while not working 20 hours a day, while not compromising your life by not having no time for your family. Like, I'm all about like work-life balance, having fun, enjoying the relationships and the people that you work with, adding the most value that you can in the best way, working in your zone of genius as much as you can. Inside the program, I promote the 80/20 rule. So that means you want to be 80% of the time doing Adding value in a way you want to be adding it, doing something you really enjoy doing that you're good at. And then yes, there'll be the other 20% that you don't love doing. Like in my business, there's always going to be that. Even I'm going to have to do accounting and taxes and stuff, and I don't enjoy that. And there's 20% of the stuff I don't love, but 80% of it, I'm making sure that I'm either podcasting, I'm coaching, I'm teaching, I'm putting on workshops, I'm helping my people, I'm coming up with new concepts, I'm doing new things. That's my 80%. And that's what I want for you because That when you have that, you don't feel like you're working hard. Like I do not feel like I'm working hard, and I put out so much content. Like I could even I could put out content all day because it's so fun. But you don't feel like it's so much work to do it. You don't feel like you're burning out because you are enjoying it, and I want that for you too. So if that sounds good to you, www.nataliefisher.ca/start. Join us in there.
