Ep #190: The Fearless Ambition Series
4 Mar 2024 · 21 min
In this episode of the Get a Six‑Figure Job You Love and Thrive Podcast, host Natalie Fisher introduces the Fearless Ambition Series, a free live three‑day training that serves as the first module of her Maximum Career Impact Mastermind. She explains that the series targets professionals who have recently stepped into new roles or are seeking advancement, offering practical tools to navigate the heightened pressure, responsibility, and interpersonal dynamics that accompany career growth. Fisher outlines the three core pillars of the training: (1) Advocating for yourself masterfully – developing an internal advocate, using questioning techniques, and learning non‑aggressive ways to influence outcomes; (2) Managing others gracefully – reframing feedback, reclaiming power over perception, and creating win‑win solutions; (3) Laser‑focused results creation – applying scientific principles to produce high‑impact work with less effort, using neutrality and self‑correction to own results. She shares personal anecdotes about rapid promotions, imposter syndrome, and how her own toolkit helped her stay calm and effective. The episode also details how the series fits within her broader Six‑Figure Curriculum, provides a link for sign‑ups, and offers a promotional incentive: listeners who leave a podcast review receive free access to her $97 “8 Reasons Why You Get Interviews But No Job Offers” course. The tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and instructional, aimed at motivating listeners to enroll and apply the forthcoming tools.

Hello and welcome to Get a Six-Figure Job You Love and Thrive Podcast. Today I'm talking about the Fearless Ambition series that I'm going to be doing. It's going to be a live 3-day series. You can get the link to sign up in the show notes. And I wanted to talk to you a little bit about that and give you a little bit of a sneak peek on what I'm going to be doing. So stay tuned. Welcome to the Get a Six-Figure Job You Love and Thrive Podcast, where I, Natalie Fisher, am teaching you weekly how to land your premium role that you love and thrive in it. Let's go. Hello. Hello. So I have got something new planned and it's very exciting. So it's been a long time since I've really put something brand new out there. It's kind of solving a next level problem, solving new things that people experience once they get into their new roles. And this is a place where I really thrived and felt like I had emotional flexibility. Like whenever someone gave me feedback that I didn't like, or whenever someone said things to me that might've made me be taken aback or whatever, I always had like a very good— Internal awareness of how to handle it and manage it. So it never was the big problem that it could have become. And so I've been coaching on these things for a while, and what people often tell me is they, they say things like, difficult situations that used to be really difficult before are no longer difficult for me because I know how to handle them. Or they'll tell me that they just feel a lot more relaxed, a lot lighter around situations where they would've felt a lot of anxiety or a lot of pressure or a lot of inner self-doubt, right? They just feel a lot more relaxed around these situations and a lot more in control of how they're able to manage them. And so I want to teach you the tools for you to have that as well. And it just created for a very— And like, I went from reception to HR manager and not, not in like one jump, but like a few jumps. But I up-leveled quickly in responsibility and title, in visibility inside the company. A lot of things changed quite quickly for me when I made that up-level. And so all those things happened that are like imposter syndrome and a lot more work and a lot more pressure and a lot more responsibility and a lot more deliverables and Which could have easily got me overwhelmed. And also like managing a team, managing people, and all these things changed really quickly for me. And so I'm just really grateful that at the time I had the tools that I'm going to teach you. And that's basically was the inspiration for this whole thing is like the tools to create impact in a way that feels good to you, feels aligned to you, feels like you. You're not being pushy or aggressive or assertive. You can actually create in the way that suits your energy and suits your personality. And we know that there's a lot of leaders that are very different. We have leaders who are introverted leaders. They're thoughtful. They aren't loud. And we have a lot of proof that there's leaders who are successful like that. And we have leaders of all kinds. And I think that The main thing that they have in common is that they understand how to manage these 3 areas that I'm going to break down for you today in today's podcast. And then I'm going to be doing a whole 3-day free training on them as I welcome people into the Maximum Career Impact Mastermind. So the 3 areas which were pretty clear to me, and I'll go through them, and then we're going to do the 3-day training that's going to go deep into them. The first one is advocating for yourself masterfully. So advocating for yourself is not something that we are taught to do, that we're skilled at, that we know how to do. And in a lot of cases, I found myself not advocating for myself and then later regretting it and wish that I had and been like, Dang it! Why didn't I say that? Why didn't I stand up for this? Why didn't I do this? Right, and this obviously like it comes from an internal programming of maybe not wanting to rock the boat, not knowing what to say at the time, not wanting to sound a certain way. Insert whatever you're afraid of sounding like, and so it's not something that we do automatically. Like we don't advocate for ourselves automatically, and most of the time, especially women. Is we are taught to just be quiet, right? And just be like, just take what you get. Like, just don't create a problem. Like, be seen and not heard, or like whatever, right? Whatever we were told as women. I wasn't like, my dad was, was very much like, go after what you want. Like, don't let people treat you like crap. Like, he was very good like that. But then I saw my mom kind of doing the opposite. So I had a bit of an opposite narratives going on there. So I found myself not advocating in some situations, right? And so I noticed that, and I noticed that with my clients too. Like, they might have a great idea and they might bring it up once, but then they'll just take no for an answer. They'll allow it to be shut down for no good reason, right? So advocating for yourself masterfully is the first area that I want to talk about. And so I'm just going to give you a little bit of a rundown of what I'm going to be teaching. On that first day. So that's gonna be a new awareness of your internal advocate and how to promote your inner voice to create what you really want. Last week I talked about our internal advocates and how important they are and how we need to train them, promote them, listen to them, have them kind of be the top voice instead of all those other voices. So I'm gonna go into that and share a tool for creating that new awareness of your internal advocate. And then clear sense of how to advocate for yourself professionally, even when it has been difficult in the past. So this is a big thing. A lot of the times people will get caught up in how something didn't go well, how something didn't work out, like how they did advocate for themselves, but it didn't work. They were shut down or they were bullied, or sometimes it can be a traumatic experience and sometimes it can just be that they didn't get the result they wanted and they just stopped too quickly or they just gave up too quickly, right? So. We need to kind of have a clear sense of how to do that, and we need to have a lot of different ways to do that in case the first way doesn't work, which it normally doesn't. Like, it normally doesn't because we're normally being too soft about it or too casual about it, or we don't know what it's gonna take to actually get that thing pushed through or to get that idea pushed through. And I don't mean like we have to— and this is what I was saying at the beginning— we don't have to be assertive and aggressive and pushy when we're advocating for ourselves. There's a lot of different ways that we can do it in a way that, that feels good, feels aligned, and actually gets the, the people that we want to listen to us, gets them on our side. Like they think it was their idea, or they start to come around and see why this was a good idea, why this is for the best, why this is for the greater good, why this is a win-win situation, right? And so I love having these tools in my toolbox because I don't feel like I have to be aggressive or pushy or assertive or anything I don't want to be. I just get to kind of sit back and question things and observe things and make really smart, intelligent comments. And kind of my— one of the things that I used to say was, I would say, I'm going to say the thing that like nobody can argue with. And then if they do argue, like I had tools of how I would approach that. And it's not like I'm engaging in an argument or anything. And I learned this, like I, I would do it through questions. Questions is one of the tools, but I just, as a sneak peek there, questions is one of the big tools. But I observed one of my bosses, he was a VP and then he became Chief Technology Officer after we had worked together for a bit. I observed him doing this and it was so helpful. So mind-blowing, right? And he was the nicest guy. He was the coolest, most chill. Yet he was still able to make unpopular decisions when needed. He was still able to question things. He was still, but yet he was the best, right? And so I was like, I saw him and I saw his example and I was like, that's how I want to do it, but in my own way, right? With my own energy. And like, I want to be able to walk through this career or this path in a way that I'm proud of, in a way that I'm relaxed, in a way that I know I'm doing what's right and what's good for everybody. And I don't want to have to sit down and be quiet and suck up things I don't like. Because I was like, I don't even see the win in that. I don't even see the point of that. So the thing I'm trying to get across that I'm so excited about is that there is a way to advocate for yourself Masterfully, so you don't have to be all those things that people say that you have to be, like fight for what you want, like go be arrogant, get in there and you know get what like like you tell them, right? It's none of that. It's just like it's it can be a totally different experience, and it's really awesome when you get people working together. So I've always kind of been the person who's like bring me the most difficult customer, and I'll. Like, I'll talk them through it. I'll get them to see, I'll chill them out. Like I, and it's, it's through my energy that I do it, through the questions that I do it, through my belief in the resolving of this for the greater good, for my detachment from the outcome. Like all these things that I wanna teach you. So advocating for yourself masterfully is the first part. I'm gonna teach a solid understanding of how you instruct others how to treat you in a professional circumstance. And then how you can actually use your humanness as a strength that you model for others, not as a weakness. So that was a big one for me. I'm very much into using my humanness, and anybody who knows me knows that I make mistakes all the time. And then I turn those mistakes around and sometimes they turn into things that are amazing and sometimes they're just a flop. And I, I'm like, totally cool either way. I'm like, oh yeah, that didn't work out. Interesting. Or I'm like, oh yeah, that was actually really good. I'm really glad I made that mistake because then I discovered this, this, and this, right? So some of my mistakes end up turning into penicillin and some of them end up just being mistakes that I'm totally fine to talk about. It's like if I'm detached from it, I have nothing to prove. I'm not really worried about anything. I'm just kind of like, yeah, that happened. Like, I'm a human, I'm fallible. That's okay. I'm okay with it. Everyone else becomes okay with it too. So that's, that's kind of the first part is advocating for yourself masterfully. And then the second part is Managing others gracefully. So when we're in the work environment, we have a lot of other people, a lot of dynamics, a lot of personalities, a lot of other people's thoughts and feelings that we come in contact with, right? So, and sometimes they're positive and sometimes they're easy and sometimes they're not. And then sometimes somebody new joins or somebody comes back from maternity leave or something happens and we end up getting into a state where we feel disempowered again by this person, right? And we will often make that person the problem and say, oh, well, it's this person. They've come back. They're not allowing me space. They're bullying me. They're not doing this or they're not doing that. And what I always do is bring that back to you and be like, okay, so this person is doing that. And this is one of the foundational tools that I teach in my Six Figure Curriculum program is the model and how we can name a circumstance. And that circumstance can be, say, the person doing the thing, or the person said this, right? And then we get to take back all of our power and control over that situation when we decide what we're going to think about what that person has said, right? And so that person could have said something like, your work is terrible. They could say something like that to you, right? And you get to choose what you want to think about that. And what happens is most people would just have an automatic reaction to that, not knowing that they get to choose. A new outcome, right? So maybe a default response to that might be, you are, oh my God, I can't believe they think that. Is it terrible? Am I terrible? Oh, I knew I didn't do a good job. I gotta redo it. And like, you might go into like a spiral of self-doubt and shaming of yourself, or you might get very defensive and be like, how dare they say that? They're not that good either. This, this, that, the other, right? Like you might go into a spiral of defensiveness, right? And those are two understandable ways to respond, right? Like, those are just 2 options, and neither of those options actually is going to get you the best outcome. And it's not going to create a relationship with that person that is any better. And it's all it's going to do is either weaken the relationship you have with yourself. It's not going to help you to perform any better if you're shaming yourself or self-doubting yourself or beating yourself up for that, if you agree. And it's also not going to help you to move ahead in your career if you are defensive and angry with the person for saying it, right? So, and while those 2 things are understandable, and I always say as a human, I don't think anyone should say that to anybody. I think it's horrible. However, as a coach, I know that these things happen sometimes and people do say things that can be interpreted as very hurtful, right? And so my job and what I love to do is to be able to always get you back in control of whatever situation might come across in your workspace, right? And by teaching you the tools so that you can actually use the tools and implement the teachings in whatever situation you end up in. Okay, so managing others gracefully in this day— so it's a 3-day training, and managing others gracefully is day 2. It's using the 3 main tools that I'll teach you to create an inner sense of control in any discussion. I'm also going to teach how to directly move to the most optimal approach in any situation. I'm going to teach my favorite tool there that I use all the time, creating the best and most creative solutions for win-wins every time, and how to proactively approach the workplace to pave the way for advancement. So if we're able to kind of set all the drama aside, set everybody's comments aside, like that might not be good. A big one is like if people are not giving you validation or appreciation, like All these things actually are what hold you back from being your highest self, from shining, from getting to that next place, from ultimately going after what you're supposed to be going after so that you can have it, is a lot of drama. And I don't mean drama in a bad way. It's like we're humans, we create drama, we have drama in our brains. It's normal. I do too. I try to, I keep it at a minimum actually. And so a lot of people would say my life is probably pretty boring 'cause I don't really have a lot of drama, but But I love to coach so that I can help other people see where that might be getting in the way for them, right? And so we always bring the focus and the control and the power back to you so that you can actually thrive in any of these situations, right? And so if you put me in a situation that maybe somebody else might find very, very difficult, I would have tools. I'd be able to manage the situation a lot differently and I'd be able to come out feeling a lot differently. So That's what I'm going to be teaching you in this 3-day training. And then the 3rd day is going to be laser-focused results creation. This is the meat, because when you are looking to advance in a role or you are just looking to advance in your career in general, right? And a lot of people that I coach, they might be in a role where they might not be getting that appreciation or that validation. They might end up knowing that they're— that that's not going to be their forever place, but they still want to create results. In the place where they're at so that they can still have that wherever they go, right? Because nobody can take away your results that you've created, right? And the way that you talk about them and the way that you feel about them. Nobody can take away any investment that you put into your own brain, to your own improvement, to your own ability to create results. Nobody can take that away from you. So, it doesn't really matter what company you work for or where you end up going. You always get to take that with you. So, laser-focused results creation. So, we're going to talk about intentionally working less and creating more. And how that's possible, utilizing the 2 scientific principles to produce at the highest level with the least amount of effort, and then using neutrality to own your results and self-correct to achieve the desired results if you're not, right? And building a life and career where you are fueled and energized by the results that you are creating, right? And a lot of this is going to be— it gets all wrapped up into into 3 neat days where we're going to be covering every topic, but the tools are going to be so versatile.
