Last AQW Episode, Worthy Experiments & Linkedin!
12 Aug 2022 · 8 min
In this final "A Quick Word" episode of the Get a 6‑Figure Job You Love podcast, host Natalie Fisher reflects on a personal breakthrough about her habit of overcommitting and chasing shiny‑object ideas. She explains how this pattern has slowed her progress despite the belief that doing more would yield faster results. Drawing on past coaching experiences, she acknowledges the need to focus on fewer priorities and to execute them one at a time. Consequently, she announces that the short, weekly Friday episodes will cease, with future unfiltered updates moving to sporadic LinkedIn Live sessions and occasional email notes. Fisher also mentions a delayed paid‑community workshop titled "Believing New Things," reaffirming her commitment to deliver it. Throughout, she invites listeners to follow her on LinkedIn, join her email list, and consider her paid community for deeper coaching and one‑on‑one sessions, while reassuring that the regular Monday deep‑dive podcast will continue.

Welcome to the A Quick Word version of the Get a 6-Figure Job You Love podcast. So A Quick Word is just going to be a quick podcast that I record every week with some unfiltered thoughts that I either coached somebody recently on or came to me and I really just had to share. So enjoy. And if you want to listen to longer form content, check out the Monday episodes where I go deeper. And if you like the short ones, join me on Fridays, sometimes other days, but normally on Fridays for A Quick Word About Something. Stay tuned! Hello and welcome to the last A Quick Word episode. So this is actually going to be my last A Quick Word episode. Don't worry, the podcast is going to continue and there's going to be lots of Monday episodes full of juicy content, just like there always has been. But I wanted to take this opportunity to share a lesson and a breakthrough that I had— I'm having right now, and that is taking on too much. And I realized that this is something that I have been doing for years, and I haven't really learned the lesson. And I was looking back at some of the past coaching calls that I've had with some of my amazing coaches. And almost every time, there has been a time when they have coached me on taking on too much and why that is not helpful for me, why it actually doesn't help me to get where I'm going faster. It's actually slower. My brain tells me, oh, well, if you do this, this, and this and this, if you get all this done, and if you put all this out, then you're going to get more results. And it's not true. It never has been true. Right. And I just run away with my inspiration and my excitement for things. And I'm like, oh, I'm going to do this and I'm going to do this. And I kind of have that shiny object syndrome. And really it's never ever served me, but my brain just wants to grab onto it so bad. It's just, oh no, no, but this is fun. Oh no, no. Like, and I talk myself into it, right? I'd be like, this is a good idea because this, this, and this and this. And I can handle it because this, this, and this and this. No, no, no. It's going to be very easy. It's not going to take very long. But the truth is it's another commitment that I've made. Right? It's another commitment that I've done to make something every single week when I already have a ton of things that I do and, and there's no need to add another one. So with that said, I feel like it was a worthy experiment and I did enjoy it. And I am going to continue to share things like this, my unfiltered thoughts, but it's not going to be in a weekly format. It's not going to be every Friday and it's not going to be like this. It is going to be on LinkedIn. Where I hang out most of the time. And of course, if you're on my email list, you already know that I share stuff on my email list. But yeah, I will be going live on LinkedIn. I will be going live sporadically whenever the mood strikes. If I have something to share, I will be doing that. And so I invite you to join me over there. I will be— I already share a ton of stuff on LinkedIn. So if you are not following me or connected with me over there, please go ahead and, and do that now. Just go over to LinkedIn and type in Natalie Fisher. We'll put the link here. In the show notes of this episode so you can join me over there and just hit connect or follow. Introduce yourself if you'd like, send me a direct message. And yeah, let me know what's going on with you because it inspires content for me to create. And maybe one of your questions that you asked me will be answered on one of the Monday podcast episodes. I am putting together some questions for a Q&A episode, so please send me those if you have them at any time, or just say hi. So That's where I'll be most of the time. And of course, what we are always going to still have the podcast. I'm always just going to continue to podcast. That is the one thing that I have been doing now that I really, really enjoy. And it's just, I could add a podcast every day. Like, I'm like, in a moment, I'm like, I could be like, yeah, that's a great idea. Let's just podcast every single day because I have stuff to talk about every single day. But like, keeping that up would be— really hard in the end because then I'd be like, okay, well then I got to do this and I want to do this and I want to do this. And it's just like, really, the lesson here— and this is for you if you have the same problem as me— first of all, no, there's nothing wrong with you. Some people, like the ADHD diagnoses and stuff like that, it's like they think there's something wrong with them and they can't be effective that way. But it's like, really, your brain works in a beautiful way. It's just different than other people's, right? Like, I find it hard to focus on one thing and just one thing. And so I probably will never just focus on one thing. I'm going to constrain down to a few things, but I am gonna do them one at a time because doing them one at a time is what is gonna create the best quality, the most that I can put into something. 'Cause it's like if you are digging holes, for example, and you wanna dig one hole to get down to the core of the earth, and that's your goal, let's say. Mm-hmm. And then you dig a part of that hole and you're like, okay, this is not working. I'm not getting to the core of the earth. I'm going to dig another hole. I think I'm digging in the wrong spot. Let's dig over here instead. And then you're like, okay, this isn't working either. Let's dig over here instead. And then you see where I'm going with this. You end up with a whole bunch of half-dug holes and then none of them are really deep, right? None of them are going deep, right? And not to say that everything has to be deep, right? But for me, for what I'm working on right now and from where I am, for where I am in my business right now, I'm working on some very specific goals and I just need more energy to work towards those, and those involve things in my paid community inside the six-figure curriculum with the students in there. And I have overcommitted to them. Like I've said, I was like I was going to do a workshop every month, and I did one in June, and then I was going to. I was also to do the July one, and then I got sick, and then I wasn't able to deliver on that one. So I owe them a workshop, and it's called Believing New Things, and I am I am going to be delivering on that. Just got a little delayed, but I noticed myself. I'm like, you know what? I am. Overcommitting to things. I am taking on too many things, and that is a thing that that is a lesson and a breakthrough that I'm having right now. It's like okay, and I look back and I'm like I've been struggling with this for a really really long time, but I'm not beating myself up over it. I'm just saying okay, you just needed to learn this lesson. You needed to come back to it for some reason. There's something there that you haven't like you haven't integrated it yet. So I'm now working on integrating it and really doubling down on integrating it. And one of those things means that I will be. paring down on the 2 podcast episodes a week and going back to the one. So still lots of ways to interact with me. Like I said, come join on LinkedIn, follow me, connect with me, get on my email list. You will get an email about the podcast every week on Monday and what it's about. You will also get a lot of insider information that I only share with the people on my email list. And if you want to go even deeper, join my community where we have even more trainings in there and where you get to coach one-on-one with me every week and where we spend time together. we go through and get your own breakthroughs and those results start coming in for you. So that's what I have to say this week, and I hope you enjoy your weekend, and I will see you— I will talk at you on Monday while you listen. All right. Bye.
