Join me as I interview the most inspiring people living their best midlife years and dive into essential topics like hormone changes, health optimization, weight management, blood sugar, emotional well being, relationships, beauty, and so much more. What if your hair isn't thinning just because of us aging, but because your skin, scalp specifically is aging? And you've probably heard of Rogaine and hair transplants, but what if I told you there's a science backed, non invasive way to support hair growth that starts at the cellular level? Because hair thinning in our 40s and 50s, it is not actually just hormones. It's biology, inflammation, and something we might not quite be addressing yet. And it doesn't have to mean that we are out of hair options. Now, me, someone who has shared many times that I have hair extensions to make them longer and thick, and people always say, what are you doing for hair? What I was hiding. And if you're on YouTube, you can see this is. I was getting this midlife spotting right here. So one of the products that I absolutely love using is One Skin. And when they came out with a hair product, I was super skeptical, but I said, send it to me. Send it to me. So I tried it. She told me to use it for three months. It's been, gosh, two and a half months. And I've got some actually surprising feedback to share. But before I share what's happening with my scalp, specifically, I thought, let me get the co founder on, let me get Carolina on, because I've got a lot of questions. And before I'm, like, fully sharing just my experience, I want to understand the science and what's going on here and what else we should be looking at and why they got into this. So, Carolina, thank you so much for being here today. I know you're the co founder of One Skin, which is a product I've talked many times about to my audience. Thanks for being here.
Yeah, thanks so much for having me, Natalie. I'm excited to hear about your experience and definitely go talk all things about hair.
You know, I'm honestly shocked because, okay, I love your product. I've. You guys turned me on to the peptide for my skin a while ago. And then I had somebody from your team on the podcast before talking about skin and science, and I wanted to understand what the heck is going on there. And I just want to share that, like, many times, like, I was just on stage speaking recently. I don't even know if you knew this, but I was speaking at my friend Chalene Johnson's event, and we were on the panel, and with there was like, plastic surgery and dermatology, and people were asking in the audience, is there anything you could do for aging skin? And at first, the. Everyone was sharing, you know, the surgical stuff or the fillers or whatever. But then unanimously, people started bringing up One Skin. They're like, there's one product that actually helps. And I was like, me too. So it wasn't like a paid plug. It was nothing. But it is truly, like, the only skin product that I can say has made a difference like that. And I would say castor oils, too, for some reasons. But yours is the only one that, like, actually says promises, and it does it, because that's. That's not usual. So when I've been a fan of one skin. So then when they. They sent me a trial of their hair stuff, and I was crazy skeptical. So, you guys, I'm being real. I actually had bought a bottle of Rogaine, which is still under my sink unopened, and I was gonna start using that. I was like, I gotta try something. But I was like, all right, let me. Let me give this a try first. And the first like four weeks, I'm like, this. This is nothing. It's not doing a thing. Eight weeks even. I'm like, I don't know. But at almost 12 weeks, like 11 weeks, I have little tiny things growing like little fuzz. And I was like, what? It's working. What the heck? Okay, so that being said, this is not a meant to be a commercial, but I have some serious questions. Like, let's. I want to start with why, first of all, why did you guys get into the hair part? Because the skin's your thing.
Yeah. Well, basically our mission at one skin is to focus on conditions that people experience throughout the aging process, throughout their life. And obviously, hair thinning and hair loss, it's one of them. But also, if you think that your scalp is basically skin, the outer layer of the scalp is the same layer as the outer layer of the skin. And so in the same way that the skin aids and accumulates damage and you have developed a product that targets that damage in the skin, we thought that the same peptide that we found could also support the aging they scalp. And there are actually many studies already supporting that the accumulation of this zombie aging senescent cells in the scalp is really strong contributor of hair loss and hair thinning. So we decided to test both, like in the lab and in clinical studies if our peptide could support your scalp and prevent and even reverse hair loss.
Okay, can you. I'm going to ask some questions here because a lot of people don't know what that means. Like, what is zombie senescent cells mean and what does that have to do with our scalp?
Yeah, so zombie or senescent cells are essentially aging cells that accumulates in. In our skin, but they also accumulates in our scalp. What they do, these cells cannot functional function well anymore. They stop in the skin secreting collagen, but they start secreting inflammation and they basically induces the cells around to age faster to become like zombie as well. Just like a bad apple in a bunch of apples. Like one spoils the good apples. That's what these zombie cells is doing in our skin. And also in our hair follicles. So, so when these zombie cells are in our hair follicles, they basically compromise the hair cycle. And so the hair doesn't go into that growth phase that it should go and then it starts to shed, to fall out and then you experience the thinning and, and the hair loss in general. So there is a significant influence of the presence of these zombie cells in our hair follicles with hair thinning and hair loss.
Okay, so this is super common with men. Like you see men, you know, they get male, we call it male pattern baldness. But it seems in women it seem starting to be more and more common. Why is, is this happening? Like, can you help us understand the reasons it's happening? Like you, you mentioned these zombie cells, but what else is contributing to this hair loss like mine really just in the last few years and I didn't know if it was from hormone replacement. Like, I don't know, I didn't know what was causing it.
Yeah, so there are several factors that can influence hair loss and hair thinning. One of them is genetics. So the most common, like the male or female baldness, it's associated with genetics. So this could be that you are more predisposed or like your hair follicles are more sensitive to dht. So basically one of the key contributors of hair loss is that testosterone gets converted into DHT and that basically causes hair shrinking. And so this is usually driven by genetics. But other things that can influence is stress also hormone imbalance. And you know, in women, Perry, and on menopause, you are going to experience decline of estrogen and, and progesterone. This significant influences the hair cycle. So estrogen, for example, it maintains the hair in the anagen phase, that's in the growth phase. And when estrogen drops, you're basically your hair goes into the telogen phase, that's the shedding phase. So anagen is their hormone that's like really supporting hair to stay in that growth phase. And progesterone helps like preventing the conversion of testosterone into dht. So if you have progesterone, you are not going to have the effects of dht. But when the progesterone declines, you have more DHT and you can, you know, experience that hair shrinking. Other than that, you know, oxidative stress. So our scalp is, you know, similar to our skin is exposed to sun damage and oxidative stress. So that, you know, hair thinning and hair loss depending of your diet. If you're you, you don't have enough you know, you don't consume a lot of proteins and, and things. Other nutrients that you needed to, you know, support your hair cycle. That can influence as well. So it's very multifact factorial, a lot of things influencing. And there are different ways that you can target some of, you know, and.
Tell me if these questions are kind of like, out of your scope. So I'm not expecting, you know, the answer to every single thing, but, like, when it comes to hair loss, it seems like there's lots of different reasons or different things. Like, for example, I would say someone that has, like, alopecia, for example, that's a totally different reason you would have hair loss. Is that accurate? Or let me know if that's like, out of your scope or is that.
Yeah, that's, that's out of our scope. And it's definitely like a more like, disease condition. And, and for alopecia, if I'm not mistaken, there is this really strong sensitivity to dht. And, and so the, yeah, the, the hair shedding is longer than. But, yeah, definitely not something that we study.
Okay, so this is not for your alopecia. This is not where you would suggest for that. This is more for the midlife hair thinning, like, what I'm showing you here. Like this exact thing that I'm showing you. If you're on YouTube, you can see it.
Yeah. This is to support, you know, your hair. The hair that you already have or that you are starting to fall out, that you experience thinning to maintain stronger and fuller for longer.
Okay.
Because you had this hair. Right. And then it starts to.
No. And then I'm like, where is it? And before anyone says it's your extensions. No, it's not. Because my extensions aren't even over there. They're not. It's just like, it's just these little. And it's more on one side.
Yeah. And. And over, like 50% of, like, men and women will experience hair loss, hair thinning throughout their lives. Men gets to 70, 80%. But one interesting fact that we learned from our dermatologist partners is that most people lose, like, up to 50% before they start noticing that they are experiencing hair loss. And then when you start noticing, then you already have, like, the gaps.
Right.
But you still can, like, recover. But it's so interesting how it's something that most people are experiencing then it takes a while for you to understand.
That that is literally what happened with me. Like, I, at first I thought, oh, it's just the gray, you know, like, you. Because I already have gray hair. So I was like, I thought. And then I'm like, wait, this is not covering. When I get my hair, it's only on one side, it's not on the other.
Yeah.
Is that, is that a thing too where it can just be on one side?
Most people will experience around the temples and on the crown. So it varies. It could be on the both sides or one side. It's good that it's one side for you.
You mentioned DHT a few times. What does that mean? What is the.
It's a byproduct of testosterone called dehydrotestosterone and basically binds in the hair follicles and induces the hair follicle to shrink. So it's a really strong, you know, factor in hair loss.
Got it. Okay, what if, okay, so let me, I've got more question. So you talked about progesterone and estrogen. What is the, how is testosterone? Because I know, because I know some people, they're doing too much testosterone and then it creates a bigger issue. What can you say about that?
Yeah, so basically as I said, the testosterone will be convert. If you have higher testosterone, the chance that it will be converted into, into DHT and will bind to hair follicles in those hair shrinking, it's higher. So that's why you can see if people are, you know, for some reason stimulate a lot of testosterone or in the end you have a balance. Right. If you have estrogen and progesterone imbalance with testosterone, but like you drop a lot of the estrogen and progesterone and have a lot more testosterone, then this conversion will be more significant and will impact more your hair thinning.
Got it. Makes sense. So, and so what I've seen with some of my friends too is when they went too high on testosterone, it was too much and that's when it happened. And unfortunately like once that happens, it's not going to just come back like you got to do something.
Yeah, yeah.
That's scary hair.
It's really, it's, it's really challenging to reverse. So depending how far you go, it's harder to reverse. But that's why it's important to be proactive in the early stage.
So a traditional way that people would treat hair loss is Minoxidil. Is that the, that's the main name brand or what? That's the, what Rogaine is and things like that?
Yeah, Minoxidil or Rogaine. That's the common brand. It's one of the most Common treatments and it basically does. Is like blood circulation. So to, to support like your hair follicles with nutrients, what minoxidil also does before it. During this process, a lot of the hair follicles will be transitioned into the telogen phase. That's the shedding phase. So a lot of people, when they start the Rogaine, they may experience more shedding before the hair starts to grow again. So some people don't like that. But it is one of the products that have like clinical studies showing that it does support the hair growth because you stimulate the blood circulation.
Your scalp, is it dangerous? Is it because it's more of a, is it more of a chemical? Like what is that based.
It's considered like a drug product. Before you needed prescription, but now you don't need prescription. You can. It's considered like OTC over the counter. Some people experience some side effects. Some people experience some like itchiness in their scalp. So there are some side effects. But people can also take orally Minoxidil, that's another way that you can emulate. But again, you can potentially have even more side effects. Because now it's not only topical. Right. Like this is, you have this drug.
So. And I don't know enough about it because I have not used it. I have it, I haven't used it. My fear around it was the oral one would go through your liver. So I don't like that because we already are. Have such a toxic load. But the topical. I wasn't really clear on what that is and what that it's doing to us.
Yeah, so basically that is, is helping stimulating blood circulation in your scalp so to bring more nutrients to your hair follicles.
And we don't know, but it's done with chemicals. Correct. It's not like a natural. So we don't. So, so the. So it's not that it's. So it's not that it doesn't work, it's just that it's. It's about how much. Because see, here's my. And again, I'm not the scientist here, so I'm just. And I'm certainly not miss Natural. Like I have a lot of things that are not natural, but my whole thing is we have to pay attention to toxic load and the more toxins we're taking in, the more dangerous. And our skin is our biggest organ. So if we're putting toxic chemicals on our skin, that is still getting in our system. So if that is your choice, if you're like, I want to do this for my hair. Fine. But let's like let go of something else. But for me, I already know, like, I'm going to color my hair. I'm going. Like, there's things I'm going to do. I'm going to wear nail polish. Like, there's things I'm going to do. So I'm trying to reduce toxic load. So that's what kind of intrigued me about is there a natural. And I think sometimes natural things just don't work. I mean, sometimes they don't. In this case, I'm surprised yours did. But it. But sometimes they just don't, right?
Yeah. Yeah. A lot of the natural things, they are not necessarily specific. I think the beauty of this peptide is that it has a specific mechanism of action and it's one that's really associated with the cause of like hair thinning and hair loss.
Okay, so tell me, like, tell me what you can tell me about this. Like this. Is this the same peptide that we're putting on our skin with your stuff? Like, is this copper? Like, what is this? What are we doing in here?
Yeah. So is the same peptide that we discovered in our research called OS1. It's validated to reduce the amount of these zombie cells in the skin, but also in the scalp. So one of the experiments that we did in the lab was to induce this, the formation of the zombie cell with this stress hormone, because obviously stress also induces hair loss. You were able show that we can reverse the senescence or the amount of the zombie cells with our peptide. So we once we did that, we also saw increasing the hair growth. And then we decided to formulate this into a topical formula and we added other ingredients that will support your scalp health, your scalp microbiome. We actually have some natural ingredients that also help with the blood circulation. One of them is the Panax ginseng root extract. So that one with blood circulation. And then we have some antioxidants like fisetine. It's a very powerful antioxidant that can.
Help support the hair growth and so all natural things. But like your key thing is this OSO1 peptide, which is yours. Like, you guys discovered this and this is what you've been using in skin. And so is that the reason. Sorry if I'm asking some really basic questions, but I want to make sure I'm understanding here. Is that the reason, like why your skin care actually works too, because it's like turning over your skin cells?
Yeah. You are basically turning off the aging cells and allowing the healthy Cells to replicate to produce collagen, so are basically targeting aging at the root, but from within. Like this peptide penetrates in the skin, goes into the dermal layer, turns off those aging cells that are causing damage, and then induces collagen and basically, you know, repairs from your skin from the inside out.
If you've listened to my podcast for any amount of time, you know, there's been lots of guests and lots of talks where we've chatted about what to eat, getting enough protein, eating healthy, the importance of it, why we want to eat organic. But I want to share that as we age, it's not just what we eat, it's what we digest. Even if we eat super healthy, clean, organic food, we can still not have the best digestion. You see, our natural ability to digest food declines with age. This is because your body produces fewer enzymes, which are the proteins responsible for digesting food. And when you have fewer enzymes, this means more difficulty digesting our food. So even organic, healthy, or what you think are perfect foods won't provide enough enzymes to properly digest them. So this is especially true if you cook your food, which most of us do, because cooking kills the enzymes. So if you've ever wondered why you might have digestion problems even after having a healthy meal, it's because your body just can't produce enough of the enzymes to get the job done. So this is where supplementing with high quality enzyme supplements can be a huge help. So I personally use and recommend a specific digestive stack from bioptimizers which includes their mass Zymes, which is a best in class supplement loaded with full spectrum enzymes for digesting proteins, starches, sugars, fibers and fats. So when you take this enzyme daily, and I personally take them with each meal, and replace the enzymes your body is no longer producing, you're able to eat all sorts of things and digest them quickly without the bloating, without the feeling, you know, puffy, without the leaky gut issues, all of that. So when you digest your food properly, you're actually getting all of the nutrients. So I've got an exclusive offer for all of my listeners if you go to biooptimizers.com NatalieJill again, bioptimizers.com NatalieJill you can also use coupon Natalie Jill to save. You'll see my recommended stack which includes the mass times, the HCL and the probiotic. Okay, so I have some more work to do on this senescent cell thing because I've heard you're like the fourth person that's taught that's mentioned this. And I'm not full. If I, if I understand it correctly and I'm, I'm. I know I'm making this super basic, but if I'm confused, I know somebody else is. So if I'm hearing correctly, like, your body's turning over cells all day long and all the time. And as you're turning over cells, these dead cells, the ones that are not good, the one. They are still floating around in your skin, your body, whatever. So if we do not get rid of them, it's kind of like you've got this big bucket of things you can't put new things in because where are they going to go when you've got all this dead stuff? Is that. Am I saying this right? Right? Tell me if I'm making it too basic. So when we get rid of the dead zombie cells, we're making room for some of the good nutrients. Is that accurate?
Yeah, it's not only that we are making room, but they are not technically dead, but they are not functioning well. The main problem is that they are secreting inflammation. So they are impairing the cells that should divide, preventing them from dividing. So when you remove them, then the cells can thrive. But if you have zombie cells, they are basically blocking those cells around to work well. And that's why if you have like, you know, that bad apple, rotten apple, you want to remove that rotten.
Okay. Like, because mold spreads like that like a mo. Got it. It's. Yeah, you've all seen that, like with even berries. Like, you have berries and you have some mold, it's like it's going to keep spreading. Okay, that's making sense. So what about what's a people. I've heard people talk about copper peptides for hair. What is that? And why didn't we put copper in here?
Yeah, so copper peptides. And it's interesting because there are several studies showing that improves like cellular health and collagen production. We've, we've tested in our products and sometimes we, we cannot like replicate or depending on the vendor, we cannot see the same results. But there is data showing that copper peptide helps with collagen and improving like cellular repair as well.
Okay.
So if you most. For. Yeah. And. And then for hair, I have, I don't. Yeah. I have not actually explored that they use for hair, but I think it's associated again with the cel. It. And in some ways, like the collagen production can also, you know, help your scalp.
Now if somebody is using minoxidil they're using Rogaine. Can they use this with it and should they?
Yeah, you can. Our product, it's really gentle, safe for, you know, sensitive skin, people with eczema, any kind of more delicate condition. And you can combine with like Rogaine, you can combine with other products like men, for example, may, they may use like dutasteride or finasteride, which like are drug forms that are really more, really stronger. But our product is very gentle. So you can combine. It's actually targeting hair aging from a different point of view. So it's complementary to some of these other treatments in many ways.
Is there any contraindications for something like this and is there anyone. This does not work on.
No contraindication. So even if you are, you know, pregnant or this is very safe, you can, you know, through throughout your lives you can, you can use our hair serum. That's why we develop like a drug free, safe and gentle formula in terms of efficacy. It's harder to say that's going to work for everyone. So from our clinical standard studies, we saw 86% of the participants on average had an increase of 40% in hair density.
Okay.
There's six months of use.
Six months. So that's a lot longer than. Yeah, so that's even. So I don't even really know then I guess based on this what I'm actually going to know until I'm six months in.
Yeah, yeah. We did measure three months, but the, the, the results improved significantly after six months. So this 40% was detected after six months. We also saw 43% increase in thickness of the hair follicle itself.
Okay.
And we saw 38% of hair entering to the energen phases. So increases the amount of hair that's on the energen phase, the growth phase.
So when you did this study, like how many people were you looking at and how were you controlling? Like, and did they all fit into like a certain profile? Were they all like a certain like midlife women or was it a mix and like give us kind of an understanding of the studies. Yeah.
So they study included men and women, I believe 25% men and 75% women. They aged very like from 30 to 60 years old. And they shouldn't be using any other hair product. And they should hair product for growth.
Or hair product in general for growth. Okay.
For. Yeah, got it. Because other hair products is totally fine, but they also should diagnose like they should be experienced any type of hair thinning. So they needed to basically Self acknowledge that they are experienced hair thinning. And so there were like in the early stages of hair thinning, moderate states and, you know, late stage that are people that have more like bald spots.
Got it. Okay, so and how you said it was. You gave me percentages, but, like, how many people were 100 people with a thousand people? Like, I have no idea how many.
30 participants. 30.
30 participants. Got it. Okay, so this is kind of a newer. Like, we don't have like a lot of data. You're just like, this is working on skin. Let's try this. So when you guys sent it to me, like I told you, I was like, what? Okay, so I didn't open the minoxidil. I started using this. I saw nothing for the first, like six weeks. Like, nothing. I was just like, I don't know about this. And you're supposed to put it on twice a day. I know you changed your packaging, which I was happy about. So now you have. They had. They had it a different way before where it was like a dropper and it was hard to get it out, but now they added it where it's like a dropper on top. If you're watching on video, you can see. So it's like you just. It's easy. You just go like that and put it. It's easy. Into the spots. And then they send you like a. It's like a micro needling thing.
Yeah.
So I roll it first and then even after I put it on, I kind of roll it in. So I'm assuming that's just to help get it into your scalp more. Okay.
It helps creating micro fracture fractures that will penetrate, help the product penetrate better.
So I use it twice a day. So like when I'm getting ready in the morning, the first thing I do, like before I start putting makeup on or anything, I put it in my hair. So I just do that. And then when I'm going to bed at night, I also do it again. And if I wash my hair, I also put it on before I blow dry. Like, I just. It's just. So I'm doing it twice a day. Sometimes I guess three maybe. So I'm. It's. It's a. And I thought it would be an annoyance. It's not. It's so easy. But like I told you all, I saw nothing that I could see visible until almost three months. And then I could see little. It's like fuzz growing. So I'm not in the study. I'm not anything. But I thought, okay, there's something here. So let me see. So I'll have to report back after six months. I'll have to keep using it, but it's kind of cool. So if I had known now that I saw that on myself, I feel better. Obviously, I can tell other people as an option. I wouldn't have said that if I had not tried this on myself. And if I'm hearing you correctly, it should. It's not going to hurt anyone. It could absolutely help. And it's a natural option.
It's a natural option. And as I said, most people treat their skin to prevent, like wrinkles and fine lines. Why we're not treating our scalp to prevent hair thinning. If most of us were going to experience this and not only like hair thinning, but you can get your hair denser, fuller if you want to use this product, like proactively. So I, you know, I regret because as I said earlier, like, Most people lose 50% of their hair before they start noticing. I regret not starting something like this.
You didn't have it. You didn't have it for us. I didn't know about it till now.
That's true. But I think it's also like a new mindset that we should take care of our scalp as we take care of our skin because as your scalp ages will, you know, contribute.
So I'm a huge fan. I mean, my audience knows I've had extensions for ever and I'll probably still have them at age 95. So I'm a huge fan of extensions. But also, hair extensions are not going to prevent hair thinning. It could cover some up. But also, I want you guys, and I need to have another extension expert on my show soon. But what, what happens is depending on the kind of extensions you get, some kinds of extensions can actually ruin your hair. Like, they can make you lose more. I happen to have a kind that does not. It's like very gentle. It's called, it's like a, it's natural beaded rose. So it really, it's very gentle and it's for people that have had thinner hair, but you can't get it up into that area. And if you've lost hair there, you can't put it on to anything. You don't have hair, if that makes sense. So that's not going to fix that problem. And then I, I don't know about my listeners, but I don't want to wear anything that I have to remove. Like, I don't want to, I'm not going to wear a Wig. I'm not going to wear a removable piece. At least right now I don't think of that. So I'm looking for ways to improve this. And my plan was if this did not work, I would go to like the minoxidil. But right now I'm committed. Now that you said six months, I'm committed to giving a full six months and seeing what happens. That's kind of cool.
Yeah, it's important. This hair, as we said, like the hair cycle, it's long and then it takes a while for you start to see results. I think also before like maybe seeing hair growth, one thing that you can may start noticing for people that are experiencing more shedding, if you're shedding less, you know when you wash, wash your hair on the shower, this is something that some people, you know notice earlier as a sign that's like helping you.
Yeah. So can you, do you advise then like how I'm using it or somebody that got an area. I've just been putting it on the area. Should I not be doing that? Should I put it everywhere? Like what's your thoughts there?
Yeah, I think you can do both. You can if you wanna, you, if you wanna work in a very specific area, you just apply there. I like to apply again on the, the crowns and on the crown and on the temples. But if you are using more preventative or if you just want to stimulate the hair growth in general, you can pull all over so you can use the same dropper that is seen and just like. Yeah, yeah, kind of.
No. I know this is not designed for people that have alopecia because that's a different reason. But if somebody has alopecia where they haven't lost all their hair, they've got patches or areas. Would it hurt to use this in addition to whatever else they're doing?
No, it doesn't.
And no contraindications there indications.
Yeah.
Okay. So I would say it's like an insurance policy. Like why not like try that too if you want to. Yeah. And, and you're saying men and women can do this. Is there any age specific or can any age do this?
Yeah, can any age. Men and women, again, really, really gentle, no side effects and as you said, ideally use twice a day. I also like as you said that if you wash your hair already apply it's water based so it should is not greasy. It's not going to, you know, make your hair or your scalp itchy. So it should be seamless to introduce you into your skincare.
Okay. Amazing, Amazing. I'm going to link obviously all this up, but can I ask you some questions too? Because I know we're talking a lot about hair, which is. That was what I wanted to talk about on here, but can I ask you a couple of questions just about the skincare stuff in general? Because while we're here? Because some of them didn't hear my last conversation. So I interviewed a while ago, I interviewed somebody else on your team. I wasn't. It wasn't you. Because I was so curious what's going on in the skin stuff. But for those that didn't hear that episode, can you explain a little bit about like where that even came from, like why you guys created that and what you've. Because now this has been out for years and years. Like what are you seeing and are you going to change anything or what's, what's your plans with that?
Yeah. So brief background story. Like we didn't start initially to create a product or a brand. We started as scientists testing products in skins that we grow in the lab. So one of the things that we do every day in our lab is to grow skins and test products to see if they actually work. We found out that a lot of the anti aging products, they did not like deliver the rejuvenating effects they were promising. And some of them were actually causing inflammation, toxicity because they were full of.
Like toxic ingredients like hydroquinone and retinol. All of that can be got.
Yeah, yeah. And, and, and retinol in some, you know, concentrations can be okay if it's too much, can actually, you know, be detrimental. But even, yeah, even other, you know, there are so many ingredients that are potentially irritants and, and inflammatory. So nowadays we understand a lot more about like the safety of ingredients. But anyways, we also saw that none of these products were targeting the, what is, was causing aging at the, you know, the cellular level. And as we studied about this new science of aging and the impact or implications of senescent cells, those zombie cells in skin aging and not only in the skin, actually the zombie cells accumulate throughout our body. So yeah, if they accumulate in our joints, they're associated with arthritis because again they are secret inflammation, they are damaging the tissue, accumulates parts and, and, and so no one was looking into developing a product that would target these zombie cells in the skin. So that's why we decided to focus our research and find a new molecule. And we tested over 900 peptides before we found OS1. And OS1 was the one that worked the Best to reduce almost like 40% the load of.
And this is one you developed, right? You developed OS1 or. Okay, so got it. So you figured this out?
Yeah, we developed, we patent, we, we showed how it worked. We published in, in peer reviewed journals. We, we develop a top code. The first formulation was a face moisturizer. We ran a clinical studies, we showed that in, in humans it helps with like the firmness, there's elasticity, improves the barrier function of the skin. Your skin is like stronger, more resilient, hydration overall tone and, and that's like really by understanding how this peptide is combating this inflammation and this aging cells inside the skin.
So there's a couple interesting things I just wanted to point out about your company and you. Well, first of all, a lot of people are talking about zombie cells lately. Like I know and I actually just recently started trying another product which I'm not going to share yet until I fully have tried it on myself. But their whole thing is about zombie cells. So I keep hearing this. But what's interesting is that you discovered this and talked about it years ago before it got trendy. So that's what's wild. So I want to share that like one skin's been around for quite some time. So this is. You guys were kind of cutting edge before it became trendy. Just like all of a sudden everyone talks about mitochondria, right? Like people been talking about for years, but now it's like the thing to talk about. I also want to point out like I get so many skincare products. I've tried everything. I've tried all the things I've even shared. I had eye under eye surgery. Like I've done. I'm not saying I don't do every, I do everything natural. I don't. You guys are truly the first product that like I, I was like, wait, this actually works now? This is not a night and day difference. Like you're like before and after, but you definitely feel and can see your skin changing. And I learned about you guys actually first, I don't know if you know, if you knew this. I had made a post on social media, it was probably a year ago just asking people what their favorite products were. Like where did they actually see a difference? And you got tagged over and over and over again. So I, the first time I tried you guys, I ordered the products. I was like, same thing as the hair, like kind of skeptical. I was like, wait a minute, this is, this is different. So you guys, I'm serious, if you have Feel like you've like tried all the things but you have not tried this line. I highly encourage you to check it out because it really, you guys are onto something. I actually am surprised more dermatologists are not talking about you guys. Like, I don't know why that is.
Yeah, we are starting to, to partner more with dermatologists. It's because dermatologists, it takes a while to replace, you know, the, the, to reach them and to connect and show the results. But we started to also offer our products, you know, in dermatologist clinics. Right now we go to dermatologist conferences. But we started as a direct to consumer company. So a lot of our early ambassadors in some ways were more people in the longevity space.
Yeah.
So that are on top of the longevity science and, and sometimes, you know, dermatologists may take a while to kind of get this newest science. Yeah.
Because I was, I'm like, well, they talk about retin A, they talk about hydro, like. But I was like, why? And I see so many random products, but I'm like, why is this not more talked about? Because it seems like the public talks about it. It's like a more thing when you guys go and look at their company. I mean, by the way, I'm going to, I'm going to help you out a little bit because their stuff's not cheap. But I'm telling you, it works. It works, y' all. So you can try it. If you want to try their hair serum, which is the OSO1 hair serum, or you want to try their skin line. Because I like both. If you go to One Skin co. So One Skin co. Natalie, Jill, there is a unique 15 off coupon. So you can, that'll help you out. You can try. Like I shared, I have not been using this the full three months yet, the hair stuff, but I'm still using it. And now that she said six months, I'm going to continue. So if you're going to do this, don't message me and complain at six weeks. It's not working. You have to give it. We have to commit. So we have to commit to three to six months. So just. So don't buy it unless you're like, I'm committed. I'm going to commit and do it. Okay. And, and like she said she can't guarantee it works for everyone, but if you're, you've been thinking like, what can I do natural that's going to help. This doesn't hurt. And I am seeing the fuzz come up. So that's kind of cool. And, and so I'm committed now. So unfortunately or fortunately I'm a customer for life probably now if it's right. But also their skin, you can find their skin stuff there. That link will take you to both stuff. So what I'm currently doing with them is they're under eye cream and then I use the face cream and then I'm going to have to get more of it. But the body stuff, I kind of alternate that with some oils because you're you. So I use that and then sometimes I use oil like I'll use and as I mix. But I do both. That's what I'm doing.
Yeah. Body people have seen incredible results. Like for women, you know around we.
Just need a big jumbo bottle then for body. I know, I know that we need a Bing jumbo. Yeah.
For like the crepeness and. And yeah.
Because I gotta slather it on.
Yeah, yeah, I know it's like one people that people really swear about because.
Do you see, do you see more positive like more people talking about the body than the face for with your products or both?
But I think body is just like for some people like the results are really, really strong and clear and it's hard that you find any other product.
Yeah. Is it the same kind of thing where it's a three like you need three to six months sort of to really see the difference with the body. What's your take?
Around three months? Yeah. For all these skin products is around three months.
So with the body lotion, I'll tell you if you guys are people that you're like I love the nice scents and I love like that's not what this is. So this is a thicker. It's a lotion. It does absorb very well but it's not going to give you like if you're like a fruity person, you're like I need to smell like flowers or fruit. That is not you. So like to be full transparency with you. I love smells but I like the natural. So I mix with like oils that have a nice scent or whatever because sometimes I want that. Like it's part of my wind down routine. But morning all that. I use your lotion. So I highly suggest you guys if you're listening, why not? You're trying all the other things. Try this because people swear by one skin and I have a really good feeling about your hair stuff. So what's next? You're gonna start making eyelash and brow serum now too? And can we use this on our brows.
I know some people you can use on your brows. We have not like, you know, test.
That would be cool because we all are victims of the 90s when we pluck them into nothingness. I know right?
But yeah, definitely. It's easy to apply if you want to. If not try it. Please report to us.
Okay, maybe I'll start adding that in like the eyebrow stuff. This is so good. Thank you so much and thanks for such a generous discount to my audience. So you guys, one Skin co for Slash Natalie Jill, thanks for doing this with me today. So appreciate you.
