A lot of people want to be heard more than they have something to say. Today's episode is with David Perel, the host of the How I Write podcast, and he's one of the most prolific creators I know. I publish something every day on the internet for 5 years. I bring him on to dive into, does writing still matter? What parts should you focus on? And how do you stand out in such a crowded world? When you find something that works, just go really hard on doubling down on it. David Perel has taught thousands of people how to write. I want stories, I want examples, I don't want takes. When people can't write, there's 3 reasons. The first reason is they don't have any good ideas. The second is you do have good ideas, but you don't have the courage to say those ideas. Then there's the third category. One of the most interesting things he talks about in this interview is tying timeless ideas to timely moments. Pick up the New York Post, USA Today, the Journal, the Times, and just do a quick scan of what are the big news stories. That'd be the first thing. And then the second thing that I would do is— This is one of my favorite episodes I've ever had on the show. I hope you enjoy it too.
