Pat Flynn sold Smart Passive Income after 18 years as founder. He worried his audience would feel abandoned, but SPI Community Director Liz Wilcox says the mission to support early-stage entrepreneurs stays the same. Flynn is moving on to invest in new ventures and physical spaces.
There's a 50% chance I'm gonna cry on this podcast.
Pat walked into the studio joined by SPI's Community Director, Liz Wilcox, to announce something big he's been keeping a secret for months.
18 years into SPI, I am officially no longer the owner of Smart Passive Income.
Pat is someone who's defined the creator economy and helped so many creators get their start, build their businesses, and more.
I kind of needed to let go of this to grow into something else that was calling me.
Today is day one. I mean, you're hearing this for the first time. Pat and I have a very similar mission. We love early-stage entrepreneurs. We want to make sure the audience know that they're in good hands.
My biggest worry with all of this was the audience at SPI feeling like I abandoned them.

And my favorite thing is how he's continually reinventing himself.
I have been told a lot that I am the MrBeast of the Pokémon space, and I'm like, no, I don't want to be the MrBeast. I want to be Mr. Rogers.
I love that. I can't wait for you to hear what he's up to in this next chapter.
This might be the first time some people are hearing about this too, but I recently bought a building. Didn't lease it. I bought it. 8,000 square feet. That's so big! To build a— So insane.
