ACE - Assess, Choose, Execute!

A framework for decision-making in high-pressure situations: accurately assess the problem first, choose your action, then execute without self-doubt. Save criticism for a brief debrief after, not during the moment itself.
Chapters
The main framework of the book is ACE. It's assess, choose, and execute. So if you're not able to see that problem in front of you, you're never going to be able to consistently make good decisions in choosing the correct course of action. Then lastly, being able to execute. So oftentimes we can come up with the right solution, we just fail to execute it properly. When we're flying jets, sometimes we'll have 1,000 people whose eyes are on us, who've touched that mission, everybody from spies on the ground to intelligence operators to satellite operators, because not only does it come to to assess what— debrief yourself. That's one of the worst things you can do when you're in a high-pressure environment, to be critiquing yourself while it's actually happening. So if you always have a set aside time to debrief, even if it's just 5 minutes, 30 minutes, and you can tell yourself in the moment, I'm not going to critique myself right now, I'm just going to worry about trying to execute in the moment, and then afterwards have that time to debrief.
