Beyond Order by Jordan Peterson

Nick Hutchison recommends Jordan Peterson's Beyond Order, which explores balancing order and chaos using a yin-yang framework. He argues this balance matters for personal well-being and business management, where you need both structured roles and creative ones. Hutchison found the first Peterson book challenging but rewarding, and suggests both books together lead to a more balanced life.

Book Thinkers family, if you are looking to be intellectually stimulated, then I would highly recommend that you check out Jordan Peterson's brand new book. Jordan is a very smart human being. See, when I picked up 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos a few years ago, I had a very difficult time getting through the physical book because I found a lot of words that I wasn't familiar with or concepts that I didn't fully understand, and I wanted to get inside of Jordan's brain. I wanted to to understand what he was talking about. So it took me a while to get through the book. I eventually switched over to audio and I listened to Jordan read it, and I've now gone through the book a few times. So now all of a sudden, Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life comes out, and I'm having the same experience, which is fun and challenging. That's why I'm in this space. I love daily progress. Jordan expands my vocabulary. He gets me to think about things in a different way, and he offers practical guidance for day-to-day problems. So, 12 Rules for Life is an antidote to chaos. It introduces us to the benefits of more order and conformity, historical ways of thinking, getting back to the basics. But beyond order, it talks about the negatives that too much order can have in your life. He uses this cool analogy in the book where he says, listen, we need to live life right in the middle between the two. You need to have one foot kind of in uncertainty and one foot back in a safe space. That's the optimal place to live in life. It's also the optimal way to operate a business. You want to have people who are traditional and structural, people who lay down a solid foundation, people who operate from a place of certainty. But you also want the creatives. You want people who are pushing the agenda and living in the unknown. Jordan Peterson is so articulate, I can't even do him justice. And I've only just started this book, so I'm a couple hours into the audio. And I'm also flipping around physical pages and trying to learn a little bit more. But I can just tell I'm going through the same process that I did before. So my video today isn't to give you a lesson or to give you a full picture of this book, but just to say that I'm having a fun time being challenged sort of on every single page by Jordan, learning new things, gaining new perspective. And I think if you're looking for a good yin-yang, either in business or personal life, if you're looking to understand what true balance means, You sort of have to look at the intersection of these 2 books, digest what Jordan's talking about, apply it to your personal life or your business, and you'll be in a better place. I guarantee it, because you will have gone through a very challenging process. You will have opened up your mind a little bit more. Look, Jordan has me stumbling over my own words because I'm intimidated. When I have him on the podcast, which I know I will eventually, I'm going to have to brush up on my English a little bit. That's today's tip. It's just to say, check this guy out. There's nothing but positives here. He is challenging, he is fun, he is practical, and he makes sense of the world. It's an intensely practical and yet heightened path to life. So check it out. Go read something. Bye. Bye.
