When ambitious goals feel overwhelming, you start negotiating with yourself instead of asking for help. That self-negotiation is a signal the mountain is too big to climb alone. Find a Sherpa: a trusted partner or mentor who can guide you toward the summit.
Chapters
Can you give everybody a preview of maybe one exercise or action that they can expect to go through or implement as a result of reading this?
So one of the chapters talks about big mountains take big teams. And I think a lot of us set these big goals and then all of a sudden think we're gonna tackle 'em ourselves. And then when it starts getting hard or overwhelming, we start negotiating with ourselves. Say like, oh, I didn't really mean that. Like, that's okay. Like, I can do it a little bit less or whatever else. And that's not a point of negotiation. When you start having that feeling, that's a sign that you're going too long, too hard, too far by yourself. So you need to stop and recalibrate and redirect and just say, is there somebody else that can help Sherpa me up this mountain so I can get to the summit?
