Nick Hutchison read 75 books in 2019 and burned out. For 2020, he's cutting back to 60: 30 rereads of books that changed his life, and 30 new ones. He noticed 20% of his books produced 80% of his positive changes, so he's going back to those.

Hello, Book Thinkers family! In today's video, I'm going to talk a little bit about my 2020 reading goal, why I structured it the way that I did, and a couple other thoughts. So in 2019, I read about 75 books. In the first few months, I didn't read a lot, and then the last 9 months, I really crushed it. I read a few books a week, and it kind of burned me out a little bit. So what I've decided for 2020 is that I'm going to read 60 books. 30 of them are going to be books that I've already read, like these books right here, and then the other 30 are going to be new reads. So for the 30 books that I've already read, I've realized after reading hundreds of amazing books that about 20% of them have had the majority of impact on my life. So about 20% of them have led to 80% of the positive changes that I've made. So I'd like to revisit these books, revisit the 20% that have led to the 80% of my improvements. I'm going to reread them, study them, spend time with them, reflect on them, and continue to strengthen the foundation that I've got from reading all of these books in the first place. So I'm very excited about that. And then for the other 30 books, they're going to be sponsored book promotions. They're going to be new books that come out over the course of 2020 that are the hot topic or are trending or that are need-to-read kind of books. And I'm super excited about that. Over the next couple weeks, I'm going to start to reread some of my favorite books, and I can't wait. I'm so excited, and I'm going to continue to share takeaways from these books. Even if I've done videos in the past, I'll do new videos because when I reread a book for the second time, I'm probably going to have a completely different set of takeaways as compared to the first time that I read a book. So super excited, can't wait, and I hope everybody else has a great 2020. Share some of your reading goals below. All right, bye!
