In this conversational video, Nick Hutchison addresses his Book Thinkers audience while wearing noise‑cancelling headphones, explaining why he chose to discuss his two favorite audiobooks from 2019. He first details Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins, describing how the memoir’s relentless motivational tone fuels his energy during work and workouts, and noting the polarizing reactions it elicits. He then moves to The Third Door by Alex Banayan, highlighting its relevance to his sales and entrepreneurial aspirations, and calling it a "Bible" for connecting with high‑level successful people. Hutchison emphasizes that both books have had a lasting impact, that he plans to revisit them repeatedly, and encourages viewers to either listen via Audible or read the print versions. The video ends with a call for audience feedback and a friendly sign‑off.

Hello, Book Thinkers family! Why am I wearing headphones in this video? Because today's video topic is going to be what were my favorite audiobooks from 2019. People ask me this question all the time, so I figured I'd throw on some headphones, get people's attention, and make a little video. It's actually a lot harder to speak when you have noise-canceling headphones on, but I'm going to do my best. My 2 favorite listens were The Third Door by Alex Banayan and Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins. I'll start with Can't Hurt Me. I first listened to this book, I think, at the end of 2018, and then I listened to it again in 2019. And I love this book for a thousand reasons. Whether you're listening to a book throughout the workday or you're listening to a book at the gym, this is going to keep you going. It gets your engine going, it gets your energy up. David Goggins will kick you in the butt all day long and make you feel like your maximum effort is not anywhere close to what your full potential might be. And that's such a powerful lesson. I love listening to this book, and after the second time I listened to it, I almost started it again for the third time, but I'm like, wow, there are so many other amazing books I need to continue to listen to. I will absolutely be listening to this book again in 2020. I love David Goggins and everything that he stands for. He's very extreme, and I think he's a little bit too extreme for some people. You'll either love this book or you'll hate this book. I've recommended it to dozens of people, and I get very polarizing feedback. Either wow, that was amazing, which is probably 80% of people, or wow, I hated him, he's so arrogant and I don't vibe with that at all, and that's the other 20%. So check it out, such a cool listen. And then the other one is The Third Door by Alex Banayan. This book is a little bit harder to describe, but for me as a sales professional, as, as the— and as an aspiring entrepreneur, somebody who loves to connect with big, high-level, successful personalities, this was like a Bible for me. I absolutely loved every single second of Alex's journey. The subtitle to this book is The Wild Quest to Uncover the World's Most Successful— or How the World's Most Successful People Launch Their Careers. Ah, it's so hard to speak with headphones on. I'm not even kidding, you guys should try it. But regardless, the message here is that these are the 2 books that I listened to that I thought, geez, I need to listen to these books again and again and again and again. And I will, and I will this year. I have a lot of reflection going on. I'm going to listen to and read a lot of the books that have had the biggest impact on me, and these 2 absolutely make the list. If you've read them, let me know what you think. If you haven't read them, I would definitely check them out on Audible. If you don't like audiobooks, read them because they're fantastic. All right, take care. Bye.
