This author wrote an incredibly unique book. I mean, very different than every other book I've ever reviewed on this channel. And it all started because she's an avid personal development enthusiast and she wanted to share her favorite lessons, both from life and from reading, with her kids. But she knew that kids these days are distracted, so why not meet them where they're at? The average person checks their phone between 80 and 100 times a day. It's probably even more than that for young people. So she decided to send a daily text to her sons. The result is this book, Text Messages to My Sons. It's all about how to communicate in a healthy manner using mobile devices, and it has great lessons from all of your favorite personal development authors, people like Robin Sharma. There's lessons from Gandhi and Buddha. There's even lessons from some of the greats like Wayne Dyer. Now, my son Levi is only 10 months old, so it's a little early to start texting him, but why not text up the chain? Why not text my entire family group chat and share some of the lessons that I'm learning? Not all of them are as into personal development as I am, and so I that while so many of us look at mobile devices as negative and destructive, here's an opportunity to use them in a more positive manner. This would be a great gift for a parent or a friend who struggles to communicate in a positive way, and I think that slowly over time this could really change your communication with them.
