In this video, Nick Hutchison of the Book Thinkers community shares his personal mantra—"progress"—as his defining one‑word philosophy. He explains how reading books such as Built to Serve by Evan Carmichael and The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy helped him replace fear, insecurity, and self‑doubt with a daily focus on measurable improvement in health, wealth, and relationships. Hutchinson describes how the Book Thinkers community serves as a platform for education and behavior change, emphasizing that learning from books must be paired with actionable steps and tracking to manage progress. He promotes the new Book Thinkers shop (including a shirt that symbolizes his progress mantra) and teases upcoming projects: a podcast featuring guests like Evan Carmichael and a mobile app designed to help readers retain and implement book lessons. The video ends with a call to action for viewers to engage with the community and its upcoming offerings.

Hello, Book Thinkers family! I'm going to switch things up today and talk about my one word, which is progress. Progress is everything to me. A month or so ago, I finished reading Built to Serve by Evan Carmichael. It was a fantastic book, and within that book, there were a series of exercises that helped you to figure out what your one word is. Who are you? Well, for me, I am progress. Like I said, it means everything to me. Progress is important to me because it helps me feel fulfilled when I go to sleep at night. If I've made progress in my health, if I've made progress in my wealth, and if I've made progress in my love, which is friends, family, and relationships, then I feel good when I go to sleep at night. The reason that I feel good is because of my why. I used to be full of fear, insecurity, self-doubt, and all of that bad stuff. And I was living in a place where that was my operating system, and it led me to make a lot of bad decisions. But through a couple books, a couple really good books, I started to learn about the importance of loving myself and making progress on a daily basis. And once I started to do that, instead of being lazy all day with watching Netflix and saying I was going to do things but not actually doing them and being hypocritical, once I started to make real progress my life started to improve. My health started to improve. My wealth certainly started to improve. And my love, my friends, family, and relationships— the communication got better, more transparent, more honest. And overall, it was better for everybody. So for me, progress is very important, and it happens on a daily basis. For those of you that have been around for a long time, you know that one of my 5 favorite books, one of my top 5 favorite books, is The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. And that whole book is built around the philosophy that small steps in the right direction compounding over a long period of time will lead you to a better place. And it can happen in a negative way, but it can also happen in a positive way. And that's why I choose progress. Like I said, it means everything to me. And so now you know my who— I'm progress. You know my why— it's because it helped me to overcome fear and self-doubt and insecurity. Now here's my how. It's through Book Thinkers. It's through everything that we do. We are an online community built around achieving more and living better, and that's the purpose of Book Thinkers. That's the purpose of what I'm doing here. It's daily progress, and books are a fantastic mechanism to educate yourself. And education has 2 parts. You first need to educate yourself and learn, and books are a great way to do that. The second piece is through behavior change. And progress is a great way to measure behavior change. What's not being measured can't be managed. And if you want to manage, you need to measure. So measure your progress. It's exciting. Sometimes it takes a long time, but sometimes it doesn't. And so if you pick up a good book and you have an aha moment and it leads to something great in your life, a behavior change or a change in the way that you view the world, then you know you're on the right track. You know you're making progress and you can sleep great at night. And so that's what I wanted to share about this shirt. If you like the shirt, you can check it out. We just launched a, a new shop. You can go to bookthinkers.com. There's a little shop icon and you can check it out. We have some other cool stuff as well. I'll be sharing more stories about these shirts and what they mean to me over time. And if you have any questions for me, I'm always open to them. If you've made it this far, thank you so much for watching this video. There's a lot of exciting stuff coming out soon. We have a podcast launching and some of the guests are amazing, including Evan. And we have a new mobile app coming in a couple of weeks, which is also really exciting. It'll help people retain and implement more from the books they're reading. With that, my video is over. Thanks so much. Bye. Bye.
