Jim Miller from Astero Group argues that business owners should outsource accounting unless it's their core business. Handling tasks you dislike wastes time you could spend growing. Many owners resist delegating accounting despite hating it, which just makes them miserable.
Do you think it's important to double down on what we're good at and outsource what we're weak at?
100%. From a company standpoint, that's what Astero Group does. Unless your business is accounting, you shouldn't be doing accounting at a certain level. As the owner of an outsourced accounting company, I want what's best for the business owners. It might resonate when I talk about things that we can help you and literally take off that part of your life that you don't enjoy, the accounting piece and the navigating the numbers pieces, and you can focus more on doing what you love to do and you're growth-focused and trying to grow your company, and I can say, hey, you're going to have more time for that and you're going to earn exponentially more by paying us X. But it's really up to the business owner. You'd be surprised how many business owners don't want to let go of that piece even though they hate it, and they'll be miserable for it.
So it's almost like double down on what you're good at and what you enjoy and outsource what you're not good at and you don't like to do.
