Have you ever heard the term that sitting is the new smoking? It's something that I had heard a couple times, but I didn't really pay attention to it until the recent pandemic. I didn't really sit that much anyway. I'd be at my desk for 4 or 5 hours a day. It's not really that bad, right? But then after the pandemic hit, I found myself sitting down and working at my desk for 12, 13 hours a day sometimes. And that saying kind of came back to my head, sitting is the new smoking. So I looked it up. And if you sit too much every day, you actually increase your chance for heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, and then your energy levels go down because you get a little bit lethargic. It's also not great for your mental game. And as somebody who's looking to increase performance, that poses a problem. So again, sitting is the new smoking. We really need to avoid sitting all day. So then I thought, okay, what are some ways to get rid of this? I started doing a little bit of walking every day, but at the end of the day, I still found myself sitting. So I thought, okay, I've seen some ads on Instagram sometimes for standing desks. Let me look them up. And I found this company Apex Desk. Apex offers a wide variety of different standing desks that can fit almost every situation. Now I have a big sort of display. I've got a monitor, I've got my laptop, I've got desk space for all my books and everything. So I went with the 55-inch. Now I'd like to show it to everybody because I removed all of my sitting and here I am. I'm standing now for 10 hours a day. How great is that for your health, your mental game? Oh, I'm so happy with it.
So here we go.
I'll show it to you now.
Okay, this is the standing desk. Pardon the mess. You see I've got the ring light set up behind it and it's standing height. I've got my monitor with the Apex monitor arm and I've got my laptop set up. You could actually see the bookshelves and the reflection here. This is the little control pad, so if I wanted to go down and adjust the height, you could see it's displayed right there as well. I'm a 47-ish kind of guy, and yeah, it's been, uh, it's been a great experience so far. And the desk is really sturdy. Over here you can see what it looks like from the back. So I've got my monitor arm, I've got my laptop set up and truly it's been, it's been a beautiful experience. So I've also got a little pad down there on the floor that I stand on. It's been great. Thank you, Apex.
So there we have it. This is the Vortex 55-inch standing desk. It goes up and down. It adjusts to any height. I feel so much better. I've been using it now for a month. I wanted to wait to make this review until I really had a good case study. My energy through the roof, my mental game through the roof, clarity and focus through the roof. There's no back pain or anything like that, which I thought I would have to get used to. It's just been a beautiful experience. So if you're interested in checking these out, you can go down in the comment section below. You could see right on the Vortex website what the desk looks like. You could see Amazon, also the monitor arm. Highly recommend it.
