Hey Book Thinkers family, have you ever wondered how to make your dreams of fun and freedom come true? My name is Jimmy and I'm reviewing the book The 4-Year Career by Richard Bliss Brooke. Richard Bliss Brooke is a full-time network marketing sales leader, company owner, and critic, and has been since 1977. A quote by Richard at the beginning of the book that really jumped out to me is you can either be building your ideal life or working to build someone else's. Someone's dream is being built either way. Now, some of you may be thinking, I don't want to get in— into network marketing, so I don't need to read this book. But there are some great mindset tools and approaches to building a business and an effective team in The 4-Year Career. Richard, in the first chapter called What Is Network Marketing, immediately calls to and points out that there's a lot of BS in network marketing, but that is just like any other field of business. Under the pile of BS, there is plenty of gold for people to reap the benefits from. Today in the US, there are 18.6 million network marketers generating $34.9 billion in annual sales. Yeah, that's a lot. Uh, let that sink in for a minute. That blew me away when I read that. How does network marketing work? Richard quotes that it can operate as a system. Build it once, done right, earn on it forever. Almost everyone who ends up building a network marketing income starts off as a raving fan customer, falling in love with a specific product and buying it And buying in on it, seeing the benefits and how it can improve your everyday life. And from there, you can learn how to create an income stream from talking about it a little more intentionally. When done right, Richard says, when done right, network marketing relies on a more casual, natural, and authentic approach, much like when you recommend a new restaurant you're excited about, or a new movie or TV series. A key point that Richard brought up that can apply to anyone in the business world that I think is really overlooked is the idea that every customer today does not matter, relationships do matter. The 3 things that make network marketing work are: 1, be a raving fan customer first. 2, recommend the product. 3, invite people in a friendly way to come take a look. Richard provides 10 reasons why network marketing is a great option. A few of them that I want to mention now are: one is a low barrier cost to entry to get started. You can build it up part-time while working another job, and travel can be a big perk of success in this industry. A quote from Brian Tracy in this book that really stuck out to me— Brian said, the future of network marketing is unlimited. There's no end in sight, and it will continue to grow better because better people are getting into it. It will be one of the best business models in the world. That was by Brian Tracy. The 4 cornerstones of the 4-year career are the people, the product sales, the income, and the asset value. Richard makes the point that earned income is great and it pays the bills, but asset income is what pays for life. Richard says that wealth is a delayed gratification program and debt is an immediate gratification program. In choosing your legacy company, Richard discusses the idea of honorable culture, and culture is defined by a common set of values, values that anchor every new product, every new program, every event, every written and spoken word. And Richard says that company culture is essential for longevity of any organization. A strong culture will fight off any ego or greed. The ending of The 4-Year Career is quite powerful. Richard ends the book with an important question that I'll be thinking about myself. Success is buried in this one simple question: what is more important to you, your dreams and your ambitions, or the fears and concerns that you have about how you will look pursuing them. Now, this book is a short read, as you can see right here. You could read it in an afternoon. If you're looking to get into network marketing or just learn more about it, or even if you're looking to look at your business through a new and different lens, I would suggest checking out this book. Thank you for listening to this book review of The 4-Year Career by Richard Bliss Brooke.
