Why are we not taught finances?

Why don't schools teach money? Wall Street profits from keeping people confused, teachers often lack real financial experience, and we'd rather have quick answers than do the work. One solution: a step-by-step guide that makes you take responsibility for your own financial independence.

My question, I guess, is around that. Like, why do you think that America, our parents, the schools— why do you think we've done collectively just such a bad job at teaching finances?
So if you look at Wall Street, why do they want to make it difficult? Pretty obvious, right? Like, if you don't really understand what the heck is going on and then you're in this just massive circle, you're going to just kind of go off of what their word is and then they're selling on emotion. Strike 2. A lot of these teachers, they graduated and they went straight into teaching. But there's got to be something to say, hey, I've got practical experience here. And so let me just teach you the real-world stuff. Now, you guys know this about me already. For listeners of Book Thinkers, I hate Googler questions. So what I mean by that is people will go like, is a stock good? Is a bond bad? Is debt good? What's the best savings strategy? And a lot of people want the easy answer. Most people are lazy. Wall Street doesn't want to teach it, or they don't want you to know it. Teachers don't want to teach it because maybe a lot of teachers don't want to reveal that they're maybe not the most financially literate people. So how can you teach something that you suck at. And then you have the icing on the cake. Everyone wants the easy way out. The most successful people bust their ass in everything, even the stuff they suck at. And so going back to my book, I try to make it very black and white and easy. And over time, you're going to have to put your big boy pants on and really buckle up because we're going for one hell of a ride. But at the end of it, my hope is people can look at this and they might not even need someone like me.
