Would you rather have $1 million or 1 million followers? So many content creators answer this question incorrectly. They'll say, I want 1 million followers because then I can use that following to make my $1 million. And that causes them to optimize for virality because virality increases your follower count. Viral content is entertaining, and by its very nature, it has to be generalized so that you can attract a broad number of people. The right answer, and where I shifted gears about 5 years ago, was I started to focus on a smaller niche audience. I started to create less entertainment and more education that allowed me to build trust with my follower base and increase backend sales. So if you're somebody focusing on entertainment, you need to shift towards education. And this book, Video Authority by author Alaric Keck, teaches you the art and the science of converting your followers into clients, which is why we are creating social media content as authors, as podcasters, as coaches, and as consultants.
