Anthropic is putting Claude Fable-5 back in the Max subscription plan at half usage limits, free as of July 20, 2026. Pro users get a one-time $100 credit to keep using it. The move comes after user backlash and competition.

See, Fable-5 is their smartest AI, and everybody thought that they were going to have to pay for it on top of their $200 a month Max plan, uh, because that's what was said. But recently, the consumer backlash and competition got so intense that starting July 20th, Fable-5 is included in every Max plan at half the normal limits, which basically means you get the best model without paying a dollar more.
