HUD's Operation Clean House has identified two major Section 8 fraud patterns: illegal immigrants using vouchers meant for citizens, and thousands of vouchers tied to deceased occupants still in use. Landlords who don't verify tenant citizenship and confirm the voucher holder is alive risk losing 100% of rental income plus eviction costs.

Number two is they identified nationwide that there are 25,000 people living off of deceased people's vouchers. So make sure that your tenants verify that they are alive and that they are citizens or legal immigrants within the next 20 to 30 days. Otherwise you are not getting paid. So remember.
