Nick Perry says take advice only from four kinds of people: those who've built what you want, serial failures who learn publicly, blunt truth-tellers, and people with nothing to gain from your success. Everyone else is just talking.

There are only four people you should take advice from. Number one, the example. This is the person who has built what you want. So don't ask your friend who's never built a business how to start. 1. Don't ask someone without freedom how to get free. Study the people who have receipts, not opinions. Number two, the serial failure. This is someone who's failed publicly, but said fuck it and kept pushing. Because success hides in the lessons that failure teaches. Three is what I call the Wes Watson. This is someone who tells you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear, because growth is an uncomfortable process. The best example is bodybuilders. They tear their muscle fibers every day in order to get bigger muscles to tear. And the last, the unbiased. Someone who gains nothing from your success. You win, doesn't matter to them. You lose, doesn't matter to them. They'll tell you where your bald spots are when no one else does. You don't have to like them, you just want to listen to them.
