My friend had 25,000 emails in his inbox, and one filter brought it down to 100. Because every promotional email and newsletter cluttering your inbox has one word buried in it, and that word is unsubscribe. So you search for that word in your email, and it pulls up every marketing message you've ever received. Then you select all of them, create a filter that automatically deletes anything with unsubscribe in the body, and hit delete. That one filter just wiped them all out. And from now on, every new one gets trashed before it ever reaches you. So instead of spending your morning digging through hundreds of emails you never asked for, you're left with the ones that actually matter.
