Google's AI Edge Gallery app runs open-source AI models directly on your phone with no internet needed. Download it, pick a model, turn on airplane mode, and you can answer questions, read text from images, translate signs, and generate images offline.
You can now use AI on your phone without a Wi-Fi connection, and I don't think people realize how big this is yet. First, download Google's AI Edge Gallery app, and inside it, grab one of their open models. Then turn on airplane mode and ask it a question, and you'll see it answers instantly. And if you thought that was crazy, wait till you hear this. It reads and makes images too. So you land in a foreign country with no service, point your camera at a sign you can't read, and it just tells you what it says. It'll even take audio. So you literally have ChatGPT in your pocket now. Doing real work with the internet completely turned off.
