How Bimpe Made £3,000 In Her First Month With FBA

Oliver Denyer interviews his student Bimpe about selling on Amazon UK. She made £3,000 in her first month using FBA, despite initial fears about the business model.
Hey, everyone. Very warm welcome to this interview with Bimpe. So Bimpe has been one of my students for a little while now. She's been focusing on the private label strategies, right. So importing products from China, smash hit products, and selling them on Amazon. So I really can't wait to dive into her story a little bit, find out a little bit more about how she's got such awesome results in such a short time. Hopefully you can learn a few things from this interview and take a few things home. So. Hi, Bin Pei, how are you doing today?
Hi. I'm fine, thanks, Ollie? I'm good.
Awesome. It's great to have you here. So before you dived in, before you decided to start selling on Amazon, before you joined my programs and started to work with me, did you have any hesitations or any doubts, you know, that you were thinking before you actually pushed the button and got started?
Yeah, I did. I weren't quite sure if anything would sell. That's one of my questions, like, will it sell? And what happens if I order something and it's still left in the, in the stock rooms and in the inventory and then it's not selling and I'm getting lots of charges and I was quite anxious whether I would actually make any money or whether it would just be complete waste.
Yeah, that's such a common fear, isn't it? What if I spend all of this money on stock and, you know, it looks like it's meant to work and I do everything right, check all the boxes and then I send the products into Amazon and nothing sells? Right. It's a big, big, big fear that people have. And it's understandable, right, because it's wasting time and money. So somehow you managed to overcome this fear. So what was it that made you think? You know what, actually, I'll give it a shot.
I think like a lot of the programs that I've seen, a lot of the people based in America, there weren't that many UK ones. And I kind of had this thing like the tax here in the UK is completely like understanding VAT and all that is completely like, you know, sort of like a mystery to me. So I kind of wanted to work with someone that had sold Amazon in the uk. So I know that if I had any questions or if I the things, they would have already gone through things as well. So that's one of the biggest things that sort of appealed to me and appealed to me. Going through your course as well.
I can totally relate to that. A lot of the people I learned from in the beginning were from America, so I had to kind of take their stuff and apply it in the UK and don't go through the trial and error. So yeah, it's really cool that it helped you and made it less scary for you. I wish I had someone who was from the UK to teach me. So you were a little bit scared things wouldn't sell. Then you found me and realized I was from the uk, you decided to jump in and then what happened next? How many sales did you make on Amazon so far?
So so far I've made about 250 sales. Private label. I started doing retail arbor charge to begin with just to sort of like test the waters. Cool. So all of that sold out. I was so surprised. I was just so upset that I didn't buy more. I'd only buy a little bit. So at least if it didn't work, then hey, it didn't work. But I was like, I wish I'd bought more.
But yeah, that's so cool. So what is 300 sales did you say? So far? So what's that in terms of cash?
So, right, I've got 300 put in an inventory and I've sold half already. And so at the moment I've generated so far 3800 in cash revenue so far. And that's just half of my inventory gone.
Wow. So you're probably gonna, once you sell the rest, you're probably gonna get up to maybe 7,8k and you're just gonna keep buying more, spending a bit of money on stock, buying more, sending it in, and then just constantly ramping it up from there. So that's awesome. I mean, when you were getting started, did you find anything to do with the training that I provided that specifically that helped you to get that result? Was there any like thing that I focused on or anything that you found really helpful?
What I liked about your training was the fact that it was just cut straight to the chase. It was just really straightforward, really simple. I'm by nature, I like to be a perfectionist. I like to make sure everything is perfect before I do anything. And that kind of slows you down, cause procrastination. You don't get started and you don't do anything. So the thing I liked about your training, it was kind of like bite size straight to the point. And you gave exactly what to do. Like how to speak to the sellers in China was really, really helpful. Really useful as well. Making sure I developed that relationship with them as well, that was really helpful.
Did you find it scary in the beginning reaching out to Chinese suppliers a.
Little bit because you just. You're not sure what you're gonna get. Like, you know, you don't know whether you can be ripped off or not or because they're gonna sell to you. So that was a bit scary.
Yes, definitely. I think a lot of people have that fear. They think, you know, they've heard all these stories about scams happening from Chinese suppliers and there seems to be. I think it's just a simple human fear. Right? It's just like when you're dealing with a different country, you don't know the culture and it's foreign. It's foreign to you just because it'd be simpler if they were, like, in the building next door to you, because then you could go and see them if something went wrong. So how did you overcome the fear of dealing with. Speaking with Chinese suppliers, and how quickly did the fear go away?
So you gave some tips in your course about things to look out for when you meet with them. For example, did they answer your question? How quickly did they respond? And sort of like looking at, assessing as they respond to your questions as well. So that helped as well. And some of them were experienced. So you might get lucky and meet one that is experienced with or had customers before that are selling on Amazon. So sometimes that helps as well.
That's awesome. That's so cool. All right, then. So what are your goals been, Pai? I'm interested to hear? So you've got to about almost 4k in sales. That's British pounds. That's about $6,000 in sales. Once your stock sells, you're going to have about 7k. It's about 10k in sales. So what's next? Like, what goal are you trying to hit and what's really the aim behind building this business?
So the aim for me behind building this business is just to be able to stop working and, you know, have more time with my family and my boys as well. That's my main goal. And so I'd like to be. I'm going to. My main goal now is to look for another product to add to the one that I currently have now and look at how I can sort of like improve and boost on the one that I have right now.
That's the great thing, is that once you learn the techniques and you've got one product that sells, then all you have to do is rinse and repeat and just do more and more of the same thing. I mean, imagine if you had 10 products. Right. I mean, it would basically be 10 times the business. Instead of 7k in sales or whatever it's going to be from this import, it would be 70k in sales. Right. And it's inevitable you're going to get there. So how likely do you think it's going to be that you're going to hit your goals with the business?
Very likely. I mean, I've already started. I mean, my app is telling me I need to quickly reorder.
Right.
So I'm having to contact my. I've already contacted my. The Stellar. Because I've had to like now building lead time and also building delivery time as well to make sure that it hits Amazon before my current stock runs out. So I've already kind of like started on the process. I needed to just to keep the momentum going as well.
That's awesome. That's so cool. It's such a good problem to have when your stock sells too quickly so you're obviously doing something right. All right, so what would you say to someone then who was, you know, on the fence thinking about starting the process of building an Amazon business, but they weren't sure if it was really going to work or maybe they were scared that their stock wasn't going to sell because you were in that position before. Right. So what would you say to them?
Well, I'll say, you know, you need to make sure you're following someone that has already done it before. So invest in good training, invest in coaching if you need it as well. And then also it's better to say, oh well, than what if you don't want to be sitting there constantly thinking, what if? What if, you know, you just want to give something a try and definitely see how it goes? So many people have made it online and, you know, depends on what you want to achieve. Whether you want to go for products that are making you 10k a month or you're going to go for products that are making you 50k a month. You know, you've got to decide what business model you want to go for and go with it. You know, start small, grow big, 100%.
That's the amazing thing about this business. You can take it as far as you want. If you just want to make an extra couple hundred dollars a week, then you can do that. If you want to do what I done and generate millions on Amazon, you can do that as well. And it all just comes down to learning the skills like Bimpe you are doing right now and getting products to sell consistently. And there's doing more and more.
