Oliver Denyer explains why lead generation is the foundation of everything in business. Better lead flow makes sales easier, marketing simpler, and growth faster because you're working with more qualified prospects.
Hey, how's it going? Ollie here, time for scale tip number 15. So this is the truth and I want you to realize it Today everything is easier when you have great lead gen. So I think a lot of entrepreneurs get too caught up in shiny marketing tactics and it's very tempting. I mean we're surrounded by them. Everywhere you look there's a new way to get customers, a new funnel to build, a new way to structure your web, etc, etc, etc, right? And one of the mistakes you could make is if you test a new funnel or a new marketing thing that you're trying and for whatever reason it doesn't take off, it can be very tempting to assume that you did it all wrong. And that's why we have entrepreneurs in this cycle of building a funnel, trying it, it not going very well and then them scrapping it completely, moving on to the next one. So sometimes it's not a case of building a better funnel, it's just a case of having more leads go through the funnel. Because everything is so much better when you have great lead gen. In fact, it's so funny like when you have tons and tons and tons and tons of hot leads and they're really raring to go, your marketing can be slightly worse and still be very, very effective. And we see this case in point with huge companies, right? You've probably done the same thing as me. And you kind of stalk other entrepreneurs and then look at their marketing. You know, they might be running like an eight figure business or something and they are killing it. And you look at their marketing and you think to yourself, actually it doesn't look all that great. It doesn't look all that great. And you're thinking, well if they're just doing this simple stuff and not really doing it that effectively, how are they doing so well? It's very simple. They have tons and tons of leads. So let's say you have, you know, 10,000 leads ready, like this month, 10,000 new leads, a portion of those leads are going to be red hot and ready to buy anything you throw their way. Whether it's like a really, really high ticket thing, whether it's the cheap thing, whether it's some somewhere in the middle, they're going to be ready to buy that, right? So these companies are just getting tons and tons and tons and tons of leads, throwing them through their funnels and then optimizing and tweaking as they go. So before you dismiss a funnel as being broken or isn't working or whatever, just try putting more leads through it and try and get the lead gen part of your business working more effectively before judging your back end funnels and before judging your sales process. A lot of the time we can assume that we're terrible at selling, but if you're trying to sell, you know, massively unqualified people stuff, it doesn't matter how good you are at sales selling on the phone, it's never going to work. It's just a case of getting more leads. Funny, when you have more leads, launches go better, right? You get more responses on your content, your conversion rates go up just because the average of hot leads is higher. The chances of you having more hot leads is higher just because of volume, right? In fact, it goes up exponentially. Really weird. When you have like a hundred leads, maybe one of them will be really, really hot lead. When you have 10,000, it's not going to be 1% anymore and the chances of you getting more leads all of a sudden becomes higher. So before you freak out, scrap a funnel, start again. Just check that it isn't a lead generation problem, alright? Hope this tip shined a light on a couple things in your business.
