VIDEO THREE: Use AI To Launch The Perfect Test Batch

Oliver Denyer shows how to use ChatGPT to launch a test batch on Amazon. He covers product sourcing from Alibaba, bundling strategies to boost sales, and testing tactics that help sellers scale faster.
Hey, how's it going?
It's Ollie here.
So very warm welcome to video 3 in this video series that's going to help you build your Amazon business four times faster using AI. So today, I'm going to teach you how to use ChatGPT to create the perfect test batch. So before we dive into the strategy, I want to explain to you why we do a test batch. So what most new Amazon sellers do, unfortunately, and I've seen this happen so many times, is they'll get a hunch for a product they think is going to sell. They'll think, oh, maybe this spatula or this fidget spinner or whatever it is is going to make me loads of money on the Amazon marketplace, right? It's really going to make me a load of sales. But nine times out of 10, because it's their first ever attempt, something goes wrong and it just doesn't work. So this is a terrible way to kick off your Amazon journey. What's much better, more effective, more fun and safer is to start small. Instead of ordering 500 units, why not just order 20 units or 50 units? Or better yet, test multiple designs of the product, maybe three different angles, three different designs, 20 units of each, and see which one sells the best. So I'm going to open up ChatGPT, show you how to do this test batch, and I'm sure you'll agree this is a really powerful strategy to get that confidence your product's going to sell.
So let's say you wanted to sell a wedge pillow and you wanted to offer three different angles to test to see which design the customer liked better. We're going to go to ChatGPT and we're going to enter this prompt. What are the main pain points that make someone want to buy a wedge pillow for bed? So what are pain points? That's the thing where the customer's in pain, whether it's physical pain or just emotional pain, or they're just frustrated or annoyed and they're thinking, right, I've had it, I'm done, I'm going to buy something on Amazon. You've probably done this. Think back to the past, stuff you bought on Amazon. Let's say you bought a water bottle. The reason why is because you were probably frustrated being thirsty, not having a bottle with you when you're walking around, so you needed to order one. So we're going to enter that prompt into ChatGPT now. It's going to tell us all the pain points that motivate a customer to buy a wedge pillow. Now, this research used to take hours. When I was researching products in the past, it used to take me so long to figure out exactly all the reasons why customers buy a product. Now we can do it in seconds. So as you can see, they'll buy a wedge pillow for acid reflux and heartburn. The elevated angle helps prevent stomach acid flowing back into the esophagus. I didn't know that that's one of the reasons. Snoring and sleep apnea, respiratory issues, back and neck pain, circulation problems, pregnancy discomfort, etc, etc, etc. So now we have a load of reasons why customers buy the the product. So what we can do next is head over to Alibaba.com once you're signed in. If you go over your profile icon, you can go to submit rfq. Now, this is like an advert that you post on Alibaba and tell the suppliers what kind of product you want to source and then they come to you really quick. Way to get a ton of quotes instantly. So if you type in the product you want to wedge pillow for bed, you can say to the suppliers.
The.
Kind of thing you're after. For example, you could say, I'd like to source a wedge pillow for bed, I'd like it to solve these problems. And then you can grab some of the pain points from ChatGPT and put it into the RFQ. So, for example, you might say, I want it to solve acid reflux and heartburn, I want it to solve snoring and sleep apnea, I want it to solve respiratory issues, etc. Etc. Etc. You can pick the ones that you think are most relevant to the customer and you can say, please explain why the design solves these issues. You can enter your budget, you can enter how many you want to source. I always go with high numbers in the beginning and then negotiate small orders later down the road. Then hit invite suppliers to quote. Then you'll get loads of suppliers giving you quotes for different amounts of the wedge pillow, different designs, and you can start to see which one looks likely to solve all the problems you entered here. So that's the first step of doing this test batch. Now we're going to take it one step further. We want our product to be the best in the whole of the marketplace. Now, it can be difficult when there's already loads of great products in the marketplace and these already have loads of reviews. So how are we going to improve on it? Well, one way to very quickly and easily improve on any of these products is to offer a bundle. So offer the main wedge pillow product with a bonus product in addition to it. Just by offering something for free, you give your customers a reason to buy your product over the competition. So how do we decide which products to bundle with the wedge pillow? Going back to ChatGPT, we can now continue our conversation. Enter the second prompt based on these pain points. What could I bundle with a wedge pillow for bed? So it's going to look at the pain points it's just told you about and give you bundle ideas. So for example, you could offer a cover, you could offer a cooling gel pad, an aromatherapy diffuser, an adjustable bed wedge, a sleep mask wedge pillow for legs, a travel bag, a sleep hygiene guide, an adjustable neck pillow. So many great ideas to bundle with your product. So then you can go back to Alibaba and either submit another RFQ or just have a look. Here's some sleeping masks you can source for $1.29 each. You could offer your wedge pillow with a bonus sleeping mask and then all of a sudden you've got an offer which is better than anybody else's on page one. Who do you think is going to get the sales? The person just selling the wedge pillow or the person selling the wedge pillow with a bonus item the customer gets for free? Right?
So I hope you found that strategy really useful. Hope you go have a play with it and try and see how it works for your product.
