In this interview, Tommy Dobczyk explains how he leveraged free advertising on Facebook Marketplace to create a $2 million revenue stream for a septic‑tank business. The low‑cost marketing enabled rapid expansion into seven states—Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico. He outlines a competitive strategy that involves undercutting existing yards, purchasing land adjacent to rivals, and eventually acquiring those competitors when they go out of business. Dobczyk plans to franchise this model across the seven states and later into Florida, aiming to build a network of about 100 septic‑tank companies, each valued at roughly $25 million, which would collectively approach a billion‑dollar valuation. The conversation highlights the use of zero‑cost digital channels, aggressive market‑share tactics, and a long‑term acquisition‑driven growth vision.

Literally is direct competition. But he becomes my supplier and a manufacturer instead of a retailer.
Right. Well, and talk a little bit about that. That he hasn't done any marketing.
Zero. He's never done marketing.
So you doing the market, a little bit of marketing that you've done. When I say a little bit like you haven't a whole year.
I literally use free advertising on Facebook Marketplace and developed a $2 million revenue. $2 million stream of revenue into that company. Because I don't just sell septic tanks. I sell.
All septic.
Tanks. Because we are now servicing seven. Seven states. With our. With the marketing that I'm doing on Facebook Marketplace, I've had to expand to seven different regions. And so right now we service Arizona out of Arizona. We service Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico.
So think about this. Once we buy the company, like now, you're literally getting it at cost, but still. Still have that additional profit right out of the gate. Well, what genius is that?
What I would be able to do is actually lower my field price. Okay. And I could lower my field price and then go out to the areas where there's competition currently. Right. There's other yards out there. But with this model, I'm going to go buy land right next to my competitor up near Utah and I'm going to take all of my product and go put it next to his. And then when he goes. Goes out of business, I just go buy that company and start production right there in Utah.
Yeah.
And that's how I'm going to franchise across the seven states and then eventually go to Florida and do the same thing. So we'll end up going down there and either making them buy us or we're going to buy them. They get to pick. That's what I'm thinking will be like our billion dollar run right there. Because by the time we get done setting all this up, each one of our septic tank companies that are doing this are going to be worth 25 million. And if I end up getting 100 of these, well, like do the math right?
