Adjective Adapted Book Series Video Preview

Sasha presents a three-book series teaching adjectives to autistic students. Matching Adjectives covers basics with visuals of textures and colors. Describing Words requires two accurate descriptors per item, with one wrong answer failing the whole activity to measure progress.

Hi, this is Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a video product preview of my Adjective Adapted book series. So there's 3 different books included that are all zipped together, so you can print them as you need them or print all of them right away. The first one is the Matching Adjectives, which within all the other series, this first book introduces the concept of an adjective and looks at this at the most basic level. So there's the COVID page and then kind of a descriptor page to to reference as you're reading the book that explains what an adjective is. Um, each of my adapted book series has this kind of main page on here as the first page of the book, and these would also work awesome as an anchor chart. So I would definitely recommend printing this page twice and having this in your room or as a reference by your centers, things like that. So each page starts with a question and the students will answer and fill in the missing adjective. And the adjectives included are arranged, they're textures, colors, shapes, emotions, things like that to really show, you know, as we reference on the anchor chart, the range of different types of emotion— of adjectives. Because we don't want to only be teaching colors or shapes or emotions. There's a lot of different types of adjectives. So the jelly beans are small, the pig is dirty, the pen is sharp, the airplane is large, the pretzel tastes salty. So going through all of the different types of adjectives. Here are all of the adjective visuals that students will move, and then the storage page. Um, the next book is Describing Words with Adjectives. So I really like this one. A lot of students have IEP goals related to using descriptors. This is something that a lot of our kids struggle with. So this book is real basic but can be used in a lot of ways and is actually pretty tricky because to complete the whole book right, you have to get all the answers correct. So one wrong answer will throw the rest of the responses off, which I actually kind of like because it's going to make sure that our students are completing the whole book correctly and we can assess the skill pretty easily. So each page has 2 items and you're gonna find 2 adjectives that describe each item. So here are all the adjectives here. So for this page, the helicopter is red and it is fast. The diamond is shiny and it is also red. So there are some doubles of these, so it's not too confusing. Some of the adjectives are twice. The fire is hot and the fire is warm. The drill is loud and the drill is— what is our other word for the drill? Is loud and— I can't think of what it is. See, this is one that's kind of tricky. Um, blue. It's loud and blue. So this is a nice one to really, um, fine-tune this skill of describing. Um, the next one are two-component adjectives. Again, another skill that I love, love working on because a lot of our kids get great describing words in one way, but we want to expand their vocabulary. So even with that Describe It book, a lot of the adjectives are similar. I'll say, you know, that is warm and hot. Well, I want to make sure that my kids can use a broad range of words to describe the same thing. So even though freezing and cold mean the same thing, I like that other book incorporates using both of those words. And this book does a similar— works on a similar skill as well. So we're going to be giving 2 clues and two different adjectives and finding the right item based on those two clues. And I purposefully included similar clues that— but you have to attend to both clues if you want to find the right item. So this item is wet and blue versus this item is blue and round. Um, this item is tall and orange, this one's loud and blue. So I use some of the same colors and some of the same adjectives but obviously in different combinations, so each word Each picture only goes with one page, but you have to be attending the one that is yellow and sour. Just because the bee is yellow doesn't mean that's what I'm looking for. So there's all the pieces and the storage page right on there. So this was a video product preview of my Adjective Adapted book series by theautismhelper.com.
