Hi, this is Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a product preview of my All About the Bedroom Life Skills Unit. So there's 4 units included in this series: bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. You can buy them separately or as a bundle, and I love, love, love these to really target functional academics. You're gonna target so many great communication, social skills, life skills all in this unit while working on the very important skill of learning terms that they use in their life. So we'll learning words that they use in the bedroom or in the bathroom, etc. So this is a great way to really tie language arts instruction into something that's more functional, which I know a lot of us strive to do with our older learners. So there's a table of contents included so you can make sure to print exactly what you want really easily. There's 3 levels of pre-test/post-test. You can use the same assessment as a pre-test and post-test to show improvement over time. 3 different levels based on level of difficulty. Next, there's an anchor chart that shows exactly what words and terms we're working on. This is great to put up as a reference for all of your students. This would be really cool to blow up, especially if you're using all of the units to have one for each unit as you go on through the activities. Next is the Life Skills Word Wall. There's visual cards and definitions for all of the vocabulary words and then instructions on how to create an interactive extended word wall, which which I'm super, super excited about. This is something your students can help you create, adding in the parts of speech, category, sentence, and syllables for each of the words. So there's some blank flashcards and instructions on how to set that up in here. So here's the blank cards and then the vocabulary words, so all of the words used in the bedroom. Next is the homework set. So there's 2 different versions of the parent letter already drafted for you. We really want to work on generalizing these concepts to the home, so tying this into the home life is really key. There's 3 different levels of homework with 5 activities for the child to do with their parent and then sign off. There are visuals included to label the parts of the bedroom in their home. This would be awesome to send home or if you have a bedroom set up in your classroom, which is super cool, maybe in high schools a lot of times, sometimes they do. You could use that for that or for even creating a task of sorting shirts and pants, things like that. There's 3 social stories: bedtime routine, keeping my bedroom clean, and going to bed. Again, great things to send home. 3 adapted books. The first adapted book works on following directions in the bedroom. A lot of our kids have following directions goals, and this will work on targeting those goals as well as learning the bedroom vocabulary. So the following directions book. Next, Putting the Clothes Away, so looking at matching items of clothing to the dresser or the closet, so some kind of more advanced sorting. And then next is Sequencing Book, so sequence— matching the activities you do before going to bed and then looking at sequencing them. A lot of our kids also have sequencing goals, so this is a great thing to target in a kind of fun interactive way. Next, we've got 5 file folders. These are based on a lot of common ABLE skills that we work on: matching, associations, non-identical sorting, sorting items by function—things you sleep on, things that give you light—and then labeling parts of bedroom items and the parts of the bedroom with the words. Next, the worksheets are broken into kind of 3 little sections. First ones are matching. There's 5 versions of each worksheet included across the board, so any worksheet you see, there are 5 versions. So we'll have no memorizing, you'll have a lot of content to work with, which is really great. I kind of hate when I only have like 1 or 2 worksheets of something and you want to keep working on it. Next we've got Answering the Wh Questions. I love these worksheets. So this is going to work on finding the correct answer using a visual. So, so great for a lot of our learners. Next we've got Definition and Sentence Worksheets. and then we get into more of the higher-level tasks. So writing sentences about pictures, looking at reading comprehension, but again, still themed around this bedroom, which is really key, that functional academic component. Um, true and false questions, creating lists, ex— you know, creating those extended vocabulary sets, and then 5 narrative writing pieces. There's a ton included in this unit, all to teach around the bedroom vocabulary, a really important concept for a lot of our kids to learn. Again, this was a product preview of my All About the Bedroom unit by theautismhelper.com.
