Hi, this is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a product preview of Association and Function File Folder Activities. Working on association and function are a great form of discrimination to work on with your kids in both special needs and gen ed classrooms. If you use the ABLES, this is a skill from there that we really need to target directly, and also target with multiple examples. So not just using only one game, using a lot of different types of activities to teach this. So this set has 8 different file folders, so there's a lot of variety that will work on these skills. And again, this is great for kids that can already match and maybe sort or categorize, taking it a step farther and making it even more difficult. This leads to a lot of other skills, and it's a great foundational skill to make sure is really mastered. So I'll scroll through quickly. Each set comes with labels for the, for the complete file folder task, one label for the front, the tab, and the baggie. So first is what goes together, so just a basic association. So this would be matching the arm to the leg, or the balloons to the cupcake, the bird to the nest. So having to look for those same features and identify what is similar about them and matching them together. It can be a really challenging skill, but something that's really great to work on. Here's another what goes together, so just a little bit harder. So having to identify 2 items for each thing. Again, this is a specific task on the ABLES. So this is a great one to target that. And the third level just has different items that are a little bit trickier. So matching the fish with the fish tank, matching the oven with the pot. So a little bit trickier, 6 different options there. Um, next is grouping the items by function. So these cards are things you can write with, things that you drink, things that you wear, things that you drive. So again, we're looking at that non-identical matching. How is a pencil and a pen similar? How is a cup and a juice box? What's the function of both of those items? Next is the second one, grouping items by function 2. So we have things you eat, things you read, things you play with, and things that grow. So the similarities between the things that grow versus the thing that's play. So really having to identify those similarities. And then grouping items by feature. Things that have tails, things that have wheels, things that have cords, all the picture options for each one. 1. And the last one, Set 2, things that have by feature: feathers, windows, and numbers, and the similar items. So these really— tasks are really cognitively more challenging, but are great to push our kids and challenge them. These are skills that need to be mastered in order to move on to more complex skills, so they're great for independent work tasks and guided instruction with a teacher as well.
