Three ways to train classroom staff without disrupting the schedule: use five-minute pockets to chat with paraprofessionals, write instructions down for clarity, and regularly ask paraprofessionals for feedback since they spend the most time with each child.

Let's start the year off right with staff training. Here are 3 ways to integrate working with your team throughout your busy day. First, find time whenever you can. You're not going to get this glorious 15 uninterrupted minutes. It's all about the nooks and crannies. 5 minutes here, a few minutes here. Chat with your paras when you have the time. Make it visual. I don't mean pictures, I mean writing it down. I'm a visual learner. I need things written down for me if I'm going to remember it. So write down the things that you're asking your paras to do. Third, ask for feedback, especially one-on-one paras. They're spending more time with that child than you are, so constantly ask for feedback, incorporate their feedback into what you're asking them to do, and make sure it feels like a collaborative team.
