A teacher makes a fine motor skills game from a recycled box, laminated paper, and colored sticks. Kids match sticks to color-coded slots cut at different angles, forcing their hands to rotate in varied ways instead of repeating the same motion.

Low-cost recycled materials. We used an old box. I printed a rainbow piece of paper and laminated it, duct taped everything to the outside of the box, and then I took an X-Acto knife and I cut slots into each of the colors. Now notice the slots all go in different directions, and that's just to increase that fine motor skill and have students turn their hand instead of just performing the same skill over and over again. They're turning their hand each time they go down, and they have to match the colored stick to the correct color.
