A classroom feelings check-in tool lets students rate their emotional state from 1 (calm) to 5 (super angry) on a portable card. Teachers use the scale to spot who needs help, especially students at level 5. Using it regularly when kids are calm makes emotional language normal and catches problems early.

I love this feelings check-in and having the smaller versions for desks or binders. This is something that you would talk about while students are calm to really name different levels of anger and feelings. Feeling calm, feeling a little annoyed, very annoyed, angry, and super angry, and then having it relate to the 1 through 5. Being able to then check in on feelings throughout the day is really key. This can also relate to the feelings check-in on this choice board too. So then we can all be on the same page with being able to check in, how are we feeling? Are we a 3 or a 4? If we're at a 5, we know we're gonna need some supports and being able to talk about this.
