How to Decide the Level to Use in The Autism Helper Curriculum

Sasha from The Autism Helper walks through two ways to pick the right curriculum level for students. Use the Skills Matrix to see what language and math skills each level requires, or take placement assessments that score below 40% for Level 0.5, 40-75% for Level 1, and above 75% for Level 1.5 or higher.

Hi, I'm Sasha from The Autism Helper, and I want to talk about how to select the correct level in The Autism Helper curriculum for your student. So I have two great tools for you, whether you are purchasing, purchasing individually or whether you are using curriculum access and having your school get curriculum for you. So if you're purchasing individually, I would highly recommend checking out our skills matrix. This is going to give you the prerequisite skills that a student needs to access each level. So these are the skills they need basically to get this level done. So what they need to have before for all of the language-based subjects, which is basically everything but math and functional math, is gonna be up here and then the math skills down there. So level 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4. So check that out. The other tool that I would recommend if you're purchasing the curriculum individually is the product preview videos. Every single subject and level of the curriculum has a product preview video where I go through the pages so you get a good idea of the level of difficulty, the types of skills needed, and if it would be a good fit for your learner. So that's going to be the tools that you utilize if you are purchasing individually. Now, if you are a Curriculum Access user, you have the placement assessment, which is so, so great, super easy to use. We have a language placement assessment and a math placement assessment. The language placement assessment, again, is going to be for all subjects except math and functional math, and math will be for math and functional math. So what's really cool is there are detailed instructions, but it's gonna basically walk you through what to do. So there are 3 levels of each assessment: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. When you give Level 1, if that's the right fit and you get a score, it will tell you what to do. So right here, if you get a score below 40% on Placement Assessment 1, you should do Level 0.5. If you get between 40 and 75%, do Level 1. If you get above 75%, move on to Placement Assessment 2 or do Level 1.5. So it's gonna kind of like be like a choose your own adventure and tell you exactly what to do and where to go. So there are 3 different placement assessments with a rubric for each so you can score. And again, the steps of what to do next are all included on the bottom. So that is included in Curriculum Access. You are interested in learning more about Curriculum Access, I'm going to add the link here. You can send that link to your admin. We also have an email template or a download you can send to your administrators so they can learn all about the Autism Helper curriculum and Curriculum Access. This is our subscription service set up to specifically for schools, and our team would love to schedule a demo with your administrators and share all about it. So this is one of the extra things you get within Curriculum Access, and then the Curriculum Matrix you can utilize anytime, and those video previews are always there for you.
