Two ways to label task bins so students work independently: letters for kids who can match them, colored shapes for those who can't yet. Each label becomes a mini-schedule that tells students which task to do next.

2 ways you could label your task bins are either by letters or by colored shapes. If your students can reliably match letters, then go ahead and label each of your task boxes with the letter. This is now the student's mini schedule. This is their assignment. So they will take the letter, match, complete this task, and then come and get their next task that they're assigned. Now, if your students cannot yet reliably match letters, then use colored shapes. John has the green circle task. He's gonna match it, do this task, then he has the pink square. So we can still make this accessible and understandable to all students while working on independent work.
