A new set of 81 Level 2 non-example cards forces students to understand negation by showing only two items instead of four. Students must identify which item is not sticky, doesn't make music, has no paws, or isn't hot, relying on language rather than visual elimination.

I created a set of level 2 non-example cards, which are definitely more challenging than the first set of non-example cards I created. For this set, the student only has a choice of 2 items to select the one that meets that "not" description. The other set, there's 4 pictures on the card, so a lot of times the student can visually discriminate which one doesn't really belong in the group of 4 items. However, for this set, since there's only 2, the student really has to understand the "not," what "not" means, and the other description on those cards. So, for example, find the one that is not sticky. They would point to or say scissors. Find the one that does not make music. Find the one that does not have paws. Find the one that is not hot. These are definitely more challenging, and there are 81 cards to this set, so it's pretty large.
