Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com created Craft Supply Bingo to teach students on the autism spectrum the names and functions of everyday classroom items. Level 1 cards show pictures with words; Level 2 cards show pictures with clues about function, like marking a thumbtack as sharp. The game works for non-verbal students learning to match and higher-verbal students building vocabulary.

Hi, this is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a product preview of my Craft Supply Bingo. So I really wanted to make a game to focus on different school supplies and craft supplies because I noticed a lot of my students, even my higher verbal students, didn't know the names for all these common classroom items. So I figured a great way to work on this that would be fun and engaging would be bingo. I could work on this with my lower-level students who maybe are nonverbal or just working on matching with these basic matching cards. These are the level 1 cards. They just have the picture and the word. The level 2 cards have the picture and kind of a hint or clue to which picture. So these are great for my kids to work on the function of these items, some of the attributes of these items, such as like the thumbtack is sharp or use stencils to make shapes. So I really wanted to move away from my kids just motioning to items or grabbing at things, but using the right word to ask for different items that we use every day within the classroom. So some of the vocabulary is things like scissors, paper clips, stencils, binder clips, stapler, stamp, yarn. I was really surprised by the fact that some of my kids don't know these basic words, and I want to make sure their vocabularies are really strong. Um, so there's the 2 levels of cards and 20 different playing boards all mixed up. Um, we like to play 5 across or 5 down, um, but however you like always works, of course. I think this would be great for an art class. It would be great to, um, provide your art teacher with this type of resource Sometimes specials teachers struggle with kids with autism in their room, so this might be a great activity idea to share with an art teacher. Again, this was a product preview of Craft Supply Bingo by TheAutismHelper.com.
