Sasha from theautismhelper.com shows the "What's Bugging You? Feature and Function" adapted book, where kids match colored bugs to pictures of objects that share a function, like things you drive or sit on. The activity builds two-step skills: picking the right bug color, then finding the matching item. The set includes bug pieces, storage, and directions.

Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a product preview of What's Bugging You, an adapted book to work on feature and function. So if you've seen my other What's Bugging You books, this follows the same format. These books are my kids' favorite. They love it. I've seen some kids that are really averse to any type of literacy activity get really into these books, and this book makes it much trickier working on this idea of feature and function. So let's check it out. So each book follows this familiar pattern of "What's bugging you?" and then "Oh no, a red bug on the one that you drive!" So students will take the red bug and put it on the one that they drive. So this also is working on two-component skills because they'll have to identify the correct color bug and then match based on the correct feature or function. So identifying the one you sit on, the one you write with, the one you type on, climb on, the one you eat with. Then we switch to some different features such as windows, Wheels, buttons, teeth, laces, plug. So some of these are much trickier. So here's all the bug pieces and then the storage piece which will go on the side. There's directions for setup included. Again, this is some of my kids' favorite books and this one makes it much trickier. So if you have some of the other ones, this would be a great way to challenge your kids.
