In this product preview, Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com introduces a school‑themed Adapted Book Series designed for learners with autism and early learners. The series includes three interactive books—'Let’s Get Ready for School', 'Packing Up the Backpack', and 'What’s on the Desk'—each centered on school‑related vocabulary and usable throughout the year, not just the back‑to‑school season. All books feature movable pieces stored in a built‑in backpack system, eliminating the need for separate baggies. 'Let’s Get Ready for School' targets sequencing by having children place five school supplies in order and includes a mini‑assessment. 'Packing Up the Backpack' focuses on color identification, grouping, and fine‑motor one‑to‑one correspondence as children sort items by color into a backpack. 'What’s on the Desk' develops counting accuracy by providing more pieces than needed, requiring children to count out the exact number of items for each supply. Sasha highlights the practical setup directions, fine‑motor‑friendly piece size, and the year‑round applicability of the materials.

This is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a product preview of our school-themed Adapted Book Series. So these books are great because they're perfect for back-to-school time, but they're not seasonal enough that you need to put them away right away. So I love working on school vocabulary in the start of the year because this is something that we talk about all time— all year long. We talk about school supplies, and we talk about desk and teacher, and these are words our kids are hearing a lot, so it's great to target them in the start of the year, and then you can continue to use these products all year long since they aren't exactly seasonal or holiday-based. So there's 3 different books included in here. These books work on a wide range of skills but are all centered around this school theme, which is really fun. So included with each book are very specific directions for setup. All these books include interactive movable pieces. You won't have to use any baggies. There's systems for storage, so you won't have to worry about losing any pieces, which I'm a huge advocate of. So this first book is Let's Get Ready for School. So each book follows a familiar pattern. And we're gonna say— it says, "Let's get ready for school. First, put the notebook out of the backpack." So the page where you store all of the pieces is gonna be a backpack, which is really, really cute. So all the school supply pieces will be stored on the right, on the backpack, and you'll move it on to the desk. So this book targets sequencing. So first you put the notebook, second you put the pencil, then you put the scissors. As you can see, each item stays on the desk so students know the order of the items that are going in. So the glue and then the crayons. So they're gonna sequence 5 different items. And then the last page is a little mini assessment to kind of see if they can reorder those items on their own, which is really cool. So here's the backpack that's gonna go on the side, all the school supply pieces that are gonna go right here, and then the pieces for the final sequencing page. The next page is Packing Up the Backpack. This is gonna work on color identification with groups of items. So they're gonna have to select all of the items that are one color. So we're gonna store all the pictures on the side on a, on a storage piece, and we're gonna put all of the red supplies, all of the orange supplies, all the yellow supplies. So this is gonna really target color identification as well as they're gonna have to move more than one piece. Each page has 3 to 5 school supplies that they have to put in the backpack. So it's gonna really target those fine motor skills, which is great for some of our little kids that really need to target that one-to-one correspondence. So here's all the pieces, you'll store them right on here. So the pieces are small, but they're not where they're gonna be too small, but they're gonna be great to, again, target those fine motor skills. The last book, What's on the Desk, works on counting. This is one of my favorite systems of books because counting is really, really hard to work on. And often we kind of work on counting in a way where we give a child 3 items, we tell them to count to 3. Well, they're not really counting to 3, they're just counting the items we give them. So for this book, you're gonna store all of the pieces on the bottom of the page, and they're gonna have to count the required amount of items. So counting 2 scissors and putting them on the desk, 3 glues. So all the pieces will go down here. There are more than the required amount of pieces for each page. So as you can see on this supply page, there's 6 different notebooks even though the student only is putting 5 notebooks because we want them to really be attending to that number, not just putting the total amount on there. So you'll put the Velcro on the desk and they'll count out each school supply, which is really fun and again targets a pretty tricky skill. So again, this was a product preview of our school-themed adapted book series, great for back to school and something that you can keep out all year round. By theautismhelper.com.
