Product Preview - Still Hungry! Adapted Book for Children with Autism

Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com presents Still Hungry, an 18-page adapted book that teaches ordering skills and food vocabulary to low-verbal children with autism. Kids match picture cards and practice phrases like "I'll have one large pizza, please" across six fast-food locations. The repetitive format has helped children produce complete sentences they previously couldn't say.

Hi, this is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a product preview of my Still Hungry, a Fun Adapted Book for Children with Autism. So I have to warn you, this book is not the healthiest theme, but it is one of my kids' favorite books. Kids for years I've had have loved this because honestly, what is really more motivating than food, right? So I originally developed this book to kind of practice those skills of ordering in the community and how to order at a restaurant and have kind of some repetitive language. Oops. Repetitive language involved that could encourage my kids that had less verbal skills to say these things on their own. So here are all the pieces that you're gonna be matching in the book. It's just a direct match, so it's great for those lower kids too. They can just directly match the picture. So if you've never used my books before, you'll want to laminate these pictures and put soft Velcro on the back and cut them out. And here's the label, and there's some directions included. Here's the COVID and then each page— if you were either going to want to laminate these or or put these in page protectors. This book's kinda long, so this might be a good one for page protectors in a binder. That works awesome and saves you tons on laminating. You're gonna wanna put hard Velcro in each box. So this is kind of the story. It's just, "I'm so hungry, where should I go for lunch?" And then it follows the same script of what the cashier would say. "Welcome to Pizza Hut, can I take your order?" And then you're gonna match these pictures. "I'll have one large piece cheese— one large pizza, please." And then this page is kinda comes after each location they go to, like, "Mmm, that was good, but I'm still hungry. Where else should I go?" So it follows the same script with different food. So it's also great to work on different food vocabulary. Similar page in here has really helped some of my kids with low verbal skills mimic this. I've had some kids that really struggled to put words together on their own independently that were able to say some of these sentences on their own, which was really, really cool to see. I think that repetitive nature of it really is what helps our kids a lot. So all the different locations, I think there's 6 different fast food locations they go to and get food, and then it ends finally fall. So it's kind of just going and ordering all these places. So they have a lot of opportunities to practice how you would order. I'll have one large order of french fries, please. Um, that's it. There's 18 pages in the book and everything's included in here.
