Hi, this is Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a product preview of my Social Story Packet for Children with Autism School Behaviors. This is a collection of 7 different social stories for common school behaviors, so common misbehaviors that would happen in the school setting and how to appropriately deal with those. Social stories are really effective with kids with autism because it scripts what to do instead of what not to do, so they can kind of refer back to that— what is the appropriate action to take in this situation. I'll go through briefly what each social story talks about in this set. First one is being wrong, so how to react when you get a wrong answer on something and how not to take that the wrong way and things you can say. I can say, "Bummer." I can say, "Oh well." Next is being helpful for your teacher, so how to be helpful within the classroom and do things that are nice and helpful. Next is I don't know. This is a big struggle with some of my students is when they don't know the answer, they don't know how to react. Prompting them to say, "I don't know," in that situation and that that's okay to not know something. Next is appropriate lunchroom behavior. Next is raising your hand, so not to call out, but to raise your hand when you have a question or you want to comment. Next is doing your homework. This is one I sometimes send home to school for parents— sent home from school for parents to use at home as well. Then last is walking in the hallway. I know hallway behavior can sometimes be very difficult for our students. Can be very overwhelming with other people, and it can be sometimes a little bit of a sensory overload, but how to appropriately walk in the hallway and have good hallway behavior. So those are the different social stories included in the Social Story Packet for Children with Autism School Behavior Set.
