A new activity book teaches kids to identify bugs by both shape and size using laminated pieces and velcro cards. Each page asks children to place a big or small bug on a specific shape like a circle or semicircle. The presenter recommends putting velcro on all answer options so kids focus on the visual attributes, not just finding the velcro.

Product preview of What's Bugging You? Shapes and Sizes. So I have 3 other What's Bugging You? books that I love, and I have decided to make this one about shapes and sizes. So this is responding to different attributes. This is a really hard skill for some kids, and this is a fun way to work on it. And since your kids already have some of these books, they'll be a little bit familiar with the format, which is a great way to work on a new skill. So this book is interactive. So here's all the pages, and then in the end are all of the bugs. So the bugs you'll laminate and cut out, and this is the storage page. So there are big bugs and little bugs. So this book is really tricky because you're responding to two attributes. So on each page it follows the same format. On the top it says, "What's bugging you?" It says, "Oh no, a small bug on the circle." So the students will have to select the small bug and put it on the item that is a circle. And then, "A big bug on the circle." "A small bug on the semicircle." So it follows the same pattern, and children either have to select a small or big bug and then what shape. Goes through all different shapes and both with both small and big options. So you'll put velcro— when you set this up, I recommend putting velcro on all 3 options, even the incorrect ones, because you don't want students just to be responding to where the velcro is. You want them to really be responding to the shape, so identifying which shape is the circle. So again, here are all the pieces, and here is where you'll store all the pieces as well so you can have these handy. So that's it! I love this one. It's a lot trickier than the other 2 for my kids, but I think that's a great way to to challenge them in a way that's still comfortable and interactive and fun.
