Sasha from theautismhelper.com presents an adapted book called "Why Do You Feel?" that teaches autistic learners to explain their emotions. Unlike other WH questions, "why" requires inference rather than concrete answers. Each page asks a feeling question like "Why do you feel happy?" and gives space for longer responses, helping kids match scenarios to emotions and articulate reasons.

Hi, this is Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a product preview of my Why Do You Feel adapted book. So I have a bunch of different adapted books that focus on each specific WH question: who, what, where, when. And the why one is really, really tricky, and this one focuses on why in relation to emotions, so only in emotion questions. I love adding that because in there and really helping students identify the connection between the clue and what we're asking for. So this is probably the hardest one of the WH adapted books because these are a little bit more inference-based and a little bit less concrete than the other questions, just as dumb as wide questions can be. So there's instructions for setup, there's a storage page for you to include all the pieces. You don't have to worry about losing any of the pieces or anything like that. So on each page there is a question, "Why do you feel happy?" and then answering it, "Because I..." So the prompts here are going to have —this square is a little bit bigger because there's more text on the answers. So students are gonna really have to discriminate between the response options to identify the correct reason for the emotion. So why do you feel hot? Why do you feel upset, sick? So a wide range of different emotions. And then here's all the scenarios. So it's really matching these different scenarios with the emotion and then putting it in that right kind of semantic order. Here's the storage page for all the pieces so you will not lose any. And everything's set up really nicely. This is one of my favorite ones because again, it is going to provide that little bit extra challenge, and working on emotions is such great practice for all of our kids. So this was a product preview of Why Do You Feel? Adapted Book by theautismhelper.com.
