Hi, this is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a product preview of Write About Winter: Winter Writing Prompts and Activities. So I wanted to do a bunch of different writing activities that could be used in January and February during the winter months. So I did the first set of writing prompts in two ways. I did them on flashcards, and I also did them on worksheets. I kind of go between my writing methods. Sometimes I like to have my kids have notebooks and use cards like this, and then sometimes sheets like this are nice for homework and stuff. I made 20 different writing prompts on flashcards, and I laminated these, cut them out, and put them all in a baggie, and we pull them out to work on either as a group or individually or one-on-one during my teacher time. These are all a variety of different types of prompts to write about different things about winter. Everything about writing the steps to make hot chocolate to do you like playing outside in the snow, why or why not. These are some harder level skills, but I think the visual helps my kids too. You know, with some work, with some help, they have been getting a lot better at this type of writing. So there's 20 different visual prompts, and then there's the worksheet version, so they can write it right on here if you'd like. So these are the same prompts but in worksheet form, and these are nice too just to have it on one place. You can make packets easily for a writing center or something like that. So there's 20 of those, and then next are, um, there are 5 make a list worksheets. So these are things I like about winter, things I don't like about winter. So kind of those beginning writing skills on how to organize your writing. I'm actually planning on doing some of these worksheets first before we get to the harder writing prompts. So there's 5 different versions of making a list. I like to get my kids used to how to organize their thoughts and ideas in this way. Next is Write a Winter Letter. So kind of filling in the ideas about winter. My kids really struggle with letter writing, so I like, you know, kind of showing them how to have an introduction and what kind of ideas to put in. So this is a very basic prompt to include things they like about winter. And then there are 5 winter silly stories. So it kind of gives— each one's about an animal, a little setup for a story. And this kind of also works on problem solving because there was some type of problem in the introduction. So the kids get to decide what to do next. This is a really, really great skill to work on that's often very challenging for my kids, but it's great for them to think outside the box and think of their own ending for the prompt. So there's 5 of those. And last are 3 different grammar sorting activities. So this is with the adjectives. So I put these in top-loading sheets because I have no laminating left. So I put this whole page in a top-loading sheet, and then I did laminate these pieces. And you could either glue them on if you wanted to do, you know, each kid do their own activity, but I had this be a group activity that we're gonna reuse. And we sorted which activity— which words are adjectives that describe winter and which don't. And then we could write about it using those adjectives. So this kind of has 3 parts, this activity. And then the same thing with verbs, with the sled, "In the winter you can," so putting the verbs of what you can do on the sled and then writing a story about that. And nouns, "In the winter you can wear," and putting all the nouns of things you can wear on the hat and then writing a story with those words. So that's it! Tons of different writing activities for a lot of different types of writing included in this packet, all with visuals and enough structure to help our students with and without disabilities who need that kind of help.
