Summer is here and it's time for extended school year to begin. Extended school year is a service that is provided to students on IEPs and is used to help prevent regression over the summer as well as continue structure and routines for our students. I'm Michelle with The Autism Helper. I'm a TK through 1st grade self-contained teacher, and today I want to show you 3 amazing resources to prep to ensure that you have a smooth transition into ESY. This resource is called the Summer Work Task Mega Pack. This Mega Pack is made by The Autism Helper and includes 25 different leveled academic work tasks. These work tasks range from more basic fine motor-based activities to academic, pre-vocational, and higher-level thinking-based activities. What shape is the watermelon? Yes. What shape is the kite? Nice. This resource is called the Easy Matching Weekly Workbooks. These are made by The Autism Helper as well. What I love about these is they have different themed editions, and this is the Summer Edition. The Easy Matching Weekly Workbooks come with 1 workbook for each day of the week. Each workbook contains 7 easy matching activities such as matching out of a field of 6, errorless matching, or matching by color. The activities are all summer-themed, touching on fun topics like seasonal foods, leisure activities, and summer vocabulary. Each workbook has different activities at the same skill level, so the student or child can do one workbook a day and not get bored. The easy matching tasks are great to build independent work skills, fine motor abilities, and task initiation. This is the Autism Helpers Level Daily Curriculum, and this is a must prep for my extended school year activities because I use this during the school year, so my students are already familiar with the curriculum. Now, the Autism Helpers Level Daily Curriculum is a differentiated curriculum, so there are many different levels and many different subjects. Let me show you how I use this with one of my students. Okay, you're going to write the letters, keep them in the box. That is good working! Let's write the words. What does this say? Milk. Good. What does this say? Lettuce. Awesome. I hope you have a fun summer during extended school year with your students. For more tips and resources, follow and like The Autism Helper on YouTube. Thanks for watching!
