Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com shows how to make an adapted book that teaches kids to identify objects, count them, and name their color. Five pages cover ten basic colors with matching activities and picture cards stored in a Velcro pocket, designed for students learning counting, color recognition, and visual discrimination.

Hi, this is Sasha from TheAutismHelper.com, and this is a video tutorial of the What, How Many, and What Color adapted book. Um, so the setup of this book at first can be kind of hard to explain. So basically all the pages are bound on the right here, and then you'll laminate one extra page to attach to the back page. So these are attached all here, this is the rest of the book. And then this is the last extra blank page, and then you can just put strips of hard Velcro and bind this right here, and this will be so you can store all your pictures. So as you're going through the book, the pictures— whoops— are stored right next to you. So as you read it, you'll be able to store the pictures right next to you when you're going through it. So for this book, for each set of items, you'll be identifying the what, how many, and what color for each item. So here you'll want them— that kids can match Bunny, pink, and there are 8. So for each group, they can go through and identify the different characteristics of this group of items. So there's 5 different pages that I did for the— basically the 10 basic colors. So each page has 2 groups of items. And this has been a really great way for me to work on some basic math skills with some of my lower functioning students because it is pretty basic, like matching items Matching the color. The number is a little bit harder, but it's a great way to start working on those counting skills. Again, this is a video tutorial of the What, How Many, and What Color adapted book.
